What drew you to joining the board of Downtown Indiana?
I grew up in Indiana, and as a young person, I was always kind of disappointed in what my town had to offer, and like many others, I wanted to leave. Instead, I decided to stay and to dedicate my time to making Indiana a better place while embracing its potential. I'm proud to live in Indiana, and I see us moving forward every day.

On what DI committees/event committees do you serve?
I currently chair the Design Committee which is responsible for flowers, tree boxes, benches, etc. It's a great committee to be a part of because you're job is to literally beautify downtown!

I also chair S&T Bank Oktoberfest which is probably the most fun committee I have ever served on, and the event is always incredibly fun and rewarding.

What is your favorite thing about downtown?
I love the way that our town embraces certain events. Seeing my town turn out to support the Arts at NAFF or filling the streets during the It's A Wonderful Life Festival Kick Off, fills my heart with pride and hope for what the future brings for Indiana.

Name a fun fact that people may not know about you?
My favorite thing in the entire world is traveling, and I've visited/lived in numerous countries including England, Spain, Madeira, France, Austria, Italy, and most recently,  Croatia and Slovenia. I love experiencing the art, architecture, and food of other cultures.

Free Live Music!  Plenty to See, Do & Eat!

In 2018, Downtown Indiana's Northern Appalachian Folk Festival (NAFF) will celebrate its sixth year of bringing art, free live music and entertaining programming to Indiana's downtown.  NAFF celebrates the history and culture of our region and this year will focus on our Coal Heritage.

While there is "something for everyone," a special emphasis is placed on the family-friendly aspect of the festival. Each year, NAFF features a Children's Alley filled with games, music and arts activities.
Meanwhile, the downtown business district is lined with some of the region's finest craftsmen, vendors and exhibitors-bookended by free, live performances on two stages. National musical acts as well as those with
local and regional ti es, representing a variety of genres, play throughout the day.

Activities will also take place throughout the downtown in the week leading up to NAFF to promote the event and to further celebrate our region.  NAFF 2017 was our biggest and best event yet drawing record crowds to the downtown and this year we look forward to building on that success.

A 2017 crowd favorite, the IUP Wood Center hosted Log Sawing Contest is set to return as is the Veterans Van. Stay tuned for more  announcements concerning performers, exhibits and vendors!

Keep up with NAFF here!
