DIAKONIA
Volume VII Number 1 / July 2021
Diaconate Ordination
Bishop Mark ordained Mark Komula to the Permanent Diaconate on Saturday, June 5th at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona.

When asked if there was anything in particular that helped him during his period of discernment, Deacon Mark referred to a particular Bible verse which came up quite a few times and was in fact in the Gospel reading used at the Mass of Ordination:

"It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name
He may give you."
(John 15:16)

Deacon Mark and his wife Janis are members of Saint Peter Catholic Church in Somerset, where he has been appointed by Bishop Mark to begin his Diaconal Service. They are the parents of two sons and have 5 grandchildren.

God's blessings upon Deacon Mark as he begins his ministry. May the Holy Spirit shine on him as he serves the community of God's people.
