REMINDER: DISCA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The Drywall Interior Systems Contractors Association, Inc. of New Jersey (DISCA) has a Scholarship Program for the children or grandchildren of management employees of companies contributing to the DISCA Industry Promotion Fund (IPF). A healthy flow of cash is important to contractors, even when there’s not a global pandemic. But now that the spread of the coronavirus has resulted in mandatory project shutdowns in many states, a trade workforce that is scared to show up and skittish owners that have halted or stalled developments, there are steps financial experts say contractors and subcontractors need to take right now to protect their money and maximize cash.

POST-CORONAVIRUS CONTINGENCY PLANNING FOR CONTRACTORS, OWNERS

One would be hard-pressed to find any construction industry player that hasn't been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. While a few U.S. jurisdictions have banned construction work altogether, many more have limited which projects can move forward.

However, according to John Robbins, managing director and USA and North America head of real estate for Turner & Townsend, developers and contractors that find their project pipelines in a stall pattern still have plenty of planning to do for the reboot of work. Some experts say this could come as soon as the next few weeks while others say it might be in a few months. 

COVID-19 | CONSTRUCTION WORKERS COULD BE
‘TRACKED’ TO ALLOW SAFE RETURN TO SITES

Tracking technology will enable project teams to view workers’ site interactions if operatives test positive for Covid-19. The CrewStrong technology – a collaboration between American data firms Foresight Intelligence and OEM Data Delivery – uses Bluetooth devices to track crew members while they are on site.
