GOVERNOR MURPHY SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER ESTABLISHING TASK FORCE ON EMPLOYEE MISCLASSIFICATION

TRENTON - "The exploitation of workers is not only unethical - it is illegal," said Governor Phil Murphy. "In New Jersey, we promote fairness, fight against discrimination, and work to end unfair labor practices. I am proud to take this step forward to end a practice that creates an unfair advantage over companies that play by the rules and hurts our working families."

Governor Signed a Statewide Paid Sick Leave Bill
Governor Murphy recently signed a NJ paid sick leave bill that will take effect on October 29, 2018. The law excludes construction workers who are covered by a collective bargaining agreement. It does not exclude non-construction workers who are part of a CBA when the law goes into effect, but only after the agreement has expired.  READ MORE >

Construction Employment Inches Higher in April; Nonresidential Segment Adds 9,000 Net Jobs
Based on recently released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. construction industry bounced back in April, adding 17,000 net new jobs, according to an analysis by ABC. Last month, initial estimates showed a 15,000 jobs loss, though that has since been revised upward to a loss of 10,000 jobs. During the past year, the construction industry has added 257,000 new jobs, representing a growth rate of 3.7 percent
