Board Matters
October 12, 2020 Board of Education Meeting
The Board of Education will hold a public meeting tonight, Monday, October 12, at 7:30 p.m.

Due to the current health crisis, we will continue to hold Board of Education meetings virtually until further notice. Meetings will be held in a webinar format during which participants will have the ability to ask questions and make comments. Registration is required. Meetings will be livestreamed on Facebook @LivSchools.
UPDATED PUBLIC COMMENT GUIDELINES:
Members of the public attending Board of Education meetings are permitted to voice their opinions on school-related topics at specified times during the meeting. Our goal is to maintain the formality, decorum and efficiency of our meetings in their current remote format. Therefore, we will adhere to the following guidelines.

  • Those who wish to participate in the meeting may do so by registering for the webinar.
  • Once in the webinar, those who wish to speak must raise their hand virtually and, when called on, must state their name and address for the record. Each speaker will have three minutes to address the Board. A timer will be displayed on the screen.
  • The Board will hear all comments and will respond accordingly.

Please note that we will no longer be accepting questions and/or comments for Board meetings via email. In addition, the Board will not be communicating through the livestream comments on Facebook or through any means of virtual communication within the webinar.

Emailed feedback and questions are always welcome and will be shared with the appropriate party for review:
  • Remote Learning feedback and questions may be sent to LPSVirtual@livingston.org.
  • General feedback and questions may be sent to TellUs@livingston.org.

Communication Protocols
Click the link below to view Livingston Public Schools' "COVID-19 Communication Protocols" and learn more about the district's process for notifying students and staff when someone tests positive for the virus. Many of the protocols are taken directly from the NJ Department of Health's "COVID-19 Public Health Recommendations for Local Health Departments for K-12 Schools."
A Month of Awareness
Throughout the year, Livingston Public Schools works to address and meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all
students. As a district, we are continuing our work on supporting student wellness and the school community by continuing to promote mindfulness and social emotional learning in schools. During the month of October, there are many activities programmed across all schools that support the Week of Respect, School Violence Awareness Week, and Red
Ribbon Week. Click below to read more about our district’s upcoming important initiatives.
Coffee and Conversation
Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Matt Block hosted a “Coffee with the Superintendent” event on Wednesday, September 30, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Gazebo on the Memorial Park Oval. Approximately 30 community members showed up with their lawn chairs in hand and questions in mind. Dr. Block shared district updates and fielded questions and comments from those in attendance.
LPS LEADS Newsletter
LPS Leads is the district's new periodic newsletter specifically addressing issues related to hybrid and remote learning. Content for the newsletter will be determined by staff input, as well as through feedback and questions received at our LPSvirtual@livingston.org or TellUs@livingston.org email addresses.

LFD Promotes Fire Prevention
Fire Chief Chris Mullin and Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Francione dropped off special activity booklets to LPS elementary schools this week as part of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)'s annual Fire Prevention Week campaign. In lieu of firefighter and fire truck visits, K-2 students received a colorful brochure highlighting the theme of this year’s campaign, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” which aims to educate everyone about the simple -- but important -- actions they can take to keep themselves, and those around them, safe in the kitchen. THANK YOU to the LFD for maintaining a connection with our students and sharing this important safety information!
