| | I’m hoping your calendar is already marked for our Sweet 16 Party on June 13!!! I’m gathering all kinds of gifts for you for the day, and I plan on having at least one Large Gift Basket of Goodies for the end-of-the-day drawing! If you have not attended before, it’s a fun day of shopping the sales and waiting for your lucky number to be called to win a prize or two. You will get a number when you enter the shop, and at numerous times throughout the day, I have a hammer and I have a bell, and I ring the bell and call out the winning numbers. For these gifts, you have to be present to turn in your winning ticket in exchange for your winning gift or gifts. My collection of gifts is growing daily, so don’t miss out. I have thread, books, fabric, notions and more as gifts, and then there will be sale prices on nearly EVERYTHING in the shop! The more you spend, the more you’ll get! How’s that for temptation?!?! | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | It’s a lazy May day today, so I am waxing nostalgic about the previous 16 years. As you know, when I made the purchase, I had never made a quilt in my life, and my intent was to buy a business and make it bigger, better and more successful over time. The business just happened to be a quilting, sewing and embroidery business. In these 16 years, we have added Grace/Q’nique longarm machines and frames and we are Arizona’s sole Grace dealership; with your support we are proud to be in the top ten dealerships in the country! We added Unique Custom Sewing Furniture, and we can offer you custom built, solid wood (not particle board or MDF) tables that do not need a lift or to be moved to have you sewing at the proper height. Our sewing chairs are custom upholstered with your choice of fabrics and colors, and they can be totally adjusted to fit your body for the best and most comfortable sewing positions, a necessity, since all of our bodies are different in many different ways! We have the Big Boy 16 needle embroidery machine from BERNINA for you, complete with private lessons from a real live person standing in front of you as well as computer tutorials for your reference. We have Janome machines as well as BERNINA and Bernette domestic machines. Many of you are liking this new machine addition, and we are proud to represent Janome in the West Valley! And those are just the biggest changes over the 16 years. | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | Our tech department has actually gotten smaller, but is so efficient that we are comfortable offering you our “ best in the business policy”: if it’s maintenance you want, or you need small repairs where we don’t have to order parts, we will get your machine back to you in 7 to 10 working days!!! We have had this policy in place for over 5 years now, and we have held to it! Our tech does all the work here in the shop, he’s happy to meet with you if you need him, if he finds that a recurring problem is operator error, he is happy to sit down for a lesson when you pick up your machine. He is certified and qualified to work on nearly any machine in the business, and he hasn’t been stumped yet! It is imperative that you have faith in your technician, and this is why we feel we go to the extreme with you and your machine. Some people just have a natural affinity towards machines and what makes all the parts move and work properly, and I am proud to say that he has this innate ability and that he is a big part of our crew. He has been with SVQ for 8 years with more to come!!! Sometimes, however, it’s best for you to make an appointment with him if you need to speak with him about your machine…he’s willing but not always able if he’s elbow deep in a problem of some sort. Just sayin’. I just love memories messing around in my mind! | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | Be sure to check the June class calendar, because we have some new classes for you. One class involves no sewing, and is a painting class instead. If you’ve traveled the Midwest, you’ve probably seen some of the Barn Quilts either painted on the barn or actual quilts hung from the barn. This class is going to teach the paint method, but you can take what you’ve learned and turn it into a cloth quilt! Jacquie will have class kits available with all needed supplies for $65, and the class fee is just $10. You will take home a finished 12”x12” barn quilt, plus all the supplies left from your kit (so plan on making a few more after class!!!). Bring a pair of scissors, and your lunch, along with a healthy appetite for making your own barn quilt! | | Click on the Picture for more Information | Eleven Pines quilt camp with Michelle is on 6-22 and 23. Her sample is in the classroom for you, but remember that pine trees are not all Christmas pines, right??? Your pine tree quilt will be totally dependent on the fabrics you choose. Check out the new line of BATIK SOLIDS, only made by Batik Textiles, or their new Ombre batiks that are so bright and luscious!!! Oh, and we have a new sample at the front of the shop that used those luscious ombre batiks! But like I say, your fabrics, your Eleven Pines, your quilt! | | Since we’re re-arranging some of our “themed” fabrics so they maybe make more sense in finding them, let’s have a special this week of dots, plaids, checks at 20% off for you when you give us the code of 20DOTS.
