"If you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For passion will lead you right into your purpose." - T. D. Jakes

“Busy as a bee” seems the appropriate phrase to use describing the start of my biennium. Filling committees, searching for meeting spaces, reading and replying to emails, attending the International Conference in San Antonio and by the time this issue of The Voice lands in your inbox I will be flying back from state officers’ training in Atlanta. I’m enjoying all of it.  After all, my name, Deborah, means bee in Hebrew.

I have received many emails from chapter presidents requesting dates for important meetings that we will be having this year. Please know that I have been working to secure meeting spaces and it has proved difficult.  With things opening back up in Ohio, most venues are already booked with events being rescheduled from last year.

Fall Executive Board
The fall Executive Board meeting will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Dublin Embassy Suites. I realize that having this on the day of an OSU home football game is not an optimal situation; however, that was the only date available there. This is the hotel that was to host the 2020 state convention. OSO made a necessary deposit of $9,800 + for state convention 2020 and the hotel transferred the deposit to the 2021 state convention.  When it was clear that a convention would not be held this year, the hotel agreed to continue to work with us to hold future events using this money.

State Convention
Please keep in mind that there will not be a state convention in 2022 due to the membership voting to hold state conventions in odd years only.

Spring Executive Board
The spring Executive Board meeting and new chapter presidents’ training are tentatively scheduled at the Dublin Embassy Suites June 9-10, 2022. The details are still being worked out and information will be made available as soon as possible.

If a chapter president would like to request a visit from a State officer or someone in a leadership position, please visit our website www.dkgohio.org and click on Request a Chapter Visit and complete the form.

There are still a few openings on State committees. Please consider serving at the State level as the work is important for our State organization to function at a quality level. I made the decision to serve tens years ago; it has been and continues to be one of my best decisions.
