As the summer heats up, DKT Philippines’ EZ Lube and Premiere Condom brands are getting everyone geared up with the right tools for safe sex. To celebrate the International Day of Labor, DKT sponsored a large outdoor LGBTQ+ themed party in the surfing capital of Luzon. With over 600 people in attendance, the party included live music and performances from famous drag queens. DKT provided samples of EZ lube and Premiere condoms as well as promoted their latest variants including Bubblegum, Strawberry, and Watermelon flavors. In celebration of Pride in June, our inclusive programming encourages bringing sexual and reproductive health and education to all communities, regardless of sexuality and gender identities.

DKT Kenya/Uganda makes the need for Kiss condoms loud and clear
Mic-check, 1-2-3! This month, DKT Kenya and Uganda launched a new wave of radio campaigns to promote their latest Kiss Studded condom variant. By leveraging mass media to communicate the benefits of family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention, DKT is able to expand our reach on a local and national scale. In April alone, there were over 600 mentions aired across multiple radio stations. This triumph allows DKT programs to reach under-served communities while publicly addressing taboo topics.

Weekend nightclub activations in DR Congo
Night life in DR Congo is back and DKT is not missing out. This year DKT DRC has re-launched their weekend night activations, frequenting popular bars, strip clubs, and other locations with products and education. Since the month of March, DKT has organized nearly five product activations and sold over 2,600 OK Condoms and 200 units of Powerfil, a generic drug (Sildenafil) that enhances sexual performance. Weekend activations are a great opportunity to provide awareness of sex education and DKT products which are harder to promote through main stream media.

Kishanganj is a remote district bordering Nepal and Bangladesh in Northeast Bihar. Home to over 1.5 million people, Kishanganj is one of the poorest districts in India with contraceptive prevalence rates well below the national and state averages. DKT Janani plays a crucial role in supporting the local health department to provide women and men in the Kishanganj with a full range of contraceptive services. Participating in lively local health fairs organized by the local health departments offers the Janani outreach team to bring awareness of modern contraceptive methods to several members in the community. DKT’s partnership also allows for the distribution of thorough family planning education as well as condoms and oral contraceptive pills. With nearly twenty DKT Janani outreach teams in the State of Bihar, we take pride in helping to deliver quality services to the most underserved parts of the country.

Story of Impact: Meet Sobha Kumari, a Surya Health Promoter in Bihar, India
Everyday, DKT directly impacts the lives of women and men around the world by providing essential sexual and reproductive health (SRH) products, services, and community-based programming. In our latest Story of Impact, we learn Sobha Kumari’s journey to become a respected promoter of contraception in her community. As a community-based Surya health promoter in northern India, Sobha is a part of Janani’s expansive Surya Clinic Network. Surya clinics provide high-quality SRH services to women and men in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. When she first began, many people in her village disapproved of her work and did not allow women to talk with her. However, after spending the past decade fostering trust among members of her community, her reputation has changed significantly. In fact, many couples now go to her for counseling on contraception and referrals to Surya clinics. Not only does Sobha recommend Surya services, she uses them herself. Through her role as a health promoter, Surya has become financially independent and is now equipped to best support herself, her family, and community.
