Message from the Principal
It’s hard to believe it is December already. At DLA learning is continuing as we end the 2nd quarter strong. We appreciate our families’ flexibility and support as we transition back to remote learning for 3 weeks.
Proficiency and Beyond
Please make sure your child logs onto Google Classroom every day. This is how we can count attendance and is where your child can access their online assignments and live instruction with their teachers.
You can also support your child’s learning by having them read every day. Research shows that students who read 20 minutes every day perform better in school. Reading daily increases reading fluency, expands one’s vocabulary, and gives students a change to practice comprehension skills. 3rd-8th grade students will take end of quarter exams December 14-17 to measure their mastery of the state standards taught in 2nd quarter. Encourage your child to take their time and do their best on the test. Thursday, December 17th is the last day of 2nd quarter, so talk to your child about completing and submitting any missing assignments towards their final grades.
School Culture of Joy and Achievement
To motivate students to keep working hard and to stay focused on learning, classes can earn Thunderbucks during remote instruction. The homerooms that earn 25 Thunderbucks in December will celebrate with a special incentive on December 17th.
All students should participate in Spirit Week on December 14-17. The daily themes include: Red and Green Day, Winter Whiteout, Ugly Holiday Sweater, and Holiday Pajamas .
We will close out the month with House Team Celebrations on Thursday, December 17th with monthly awards for Eagle of the Month, College Bound, Never Been Absent, and the Golden Clock for the highest attendance.
