Important BorrowIT CT Information for Public Libraries

1. borrowIT CT funding is $703,638 in FY2019. This is identical to last year.

2.  2018-2019 borrowIT CT Payments.   Payments should go out to libraries within the next few weeks. Municipal libraries should check with their Town Treasurer to make sure these funds are made available to the library, as required by statute.

3.  Reporting borrowIT CT Loans March 2019 to February 2020. Download the Excel report form which you will then send to the new State Library Data Coordinator after the borrowIT year ends next February. Download that form here: https://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/dld/ccard/report

4. Your Library’s Statistics. For information on your library’s Payment, Loans, Borrows, and Net-Plus Loans in the 2018-2019 year, go to: https://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/dld/ccard/statistics

5. Required Expenditure Report. Libraries must report now how they spent the payment they received last year in April 2018. Most libraries have already spent this money, so please go to this survey form and submit your figures:   http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CCardExpReport
You do not need to submit a paper form.

Thanks for your library’s participation in borrowIT CT.

findIT CT Update

Please hold off on sending us your library’s holdings until we request them. Last year we asked libraries to send us their holdings updates in April and May and we loaded them into the findIT catalog in June. We are going to delay updating the findIT CT catalog this year. Equinox is going to automate the removal of any deleted bibliographic records in findIT. The new automation will make the loading process run much more smoothly, so it’s worth waiting for it before we load the catalog. We will put out the call for libraries’ holdings after the new automation has been tested, which we anticipate will be sometime this summer.

reQuestIT Updates

The requestIT CT (formerly reQuest) participation fee has remained at $325 for past 9 years. The Connecticut Digital Library Advisory Board (CDLAB) approved a requestIT CT participation fee increase to $350 for fiscal year 2020, which covers the period July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

requestIT CT participation fees will ensure that we can continue developing enhancements and building and maintaining connectors. Participation fees only partially subsidize the findIT CT statewide catalog and the requestIT CT ILL system. State and federal LSTA funds provide the largest portion of funding for the project.

We also offer participation in Connecticut's CatExpress group to download MARC records from OCLC's WorldCat. Pricing is per record (this year was $1.27 per record) and some population and FTE restrictions apply.

We will be sending out bills for requestIT participation in July.

Steve Cauffman will be offering another “Do’s and Don’ts of requestIT” session on Wednesday, April 17 from 10 am to 1 pm at Mystic and Noank Library. He will review the FulfILLment system and updating process, show some of the newer features, and talk about ILL workflow. This session is for those who have been trained on and are currently using requestIT CT. You can register for this session at: https://cslib.libcal.com/event/5222937
