Welcome to our newsletter.  Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
Homage Restaurant

The popular Corsican Cafe in Freeport burned to the ground in 2016. DMA was responsible for designing a new 2-story restaurant.  Once constructed, new owners, now called   Homage Restaurant , took over the interior finishes and design and opened up in early 2018.  DMA created a design that was a reflection of the existing building but also incorporated wonderfully daylighted spaces. Construction by Burnham and Lobozzo.
Views from the Job Site

At just over 1,000 sf, the 2 bedroom Bog Pond Cottage maximizes its shoreland zoning expansion potential, as well as beautiful views of Bog Pond and the sunset. An open plan is bordered by bedrooms on each side of the cabin, and the large expanse of windows and sliding doors creates a wonderful room that will be as much outside as inside...with controlled temperatures. Construction by Ned Eldridge.
Maine Home & Remodeling Show

DMA will again be showcasing our portfolio at the Maine Home & Remodeling Show at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland on Saturday February 16 (10 am to 5 pm) and Sunday February 17 (10 am to 4 pm). It's a great way to celebrate Valentines weekend with your date getting a head start on your remodeling and design ideas. Contact Cathy for free tickets while supplies last.
China Lake House

DMA is working on a small year-round addition / renovation on China lake. We are creating a mor e elegant and usable entrance to the house, along with a new kitchen and dining room with views of the water. The second floor will get a new master bedroom suite.
Sebasco Estate

This 1,440 sf three bedroom cottage took the place of a old, derelict cottage. An efficient layout will capitalize on the views of the harbor and a welcoming open plan will create an inviting atmosphere. Construction by Bachman Construction.
Swing Dancing

Sophi, from our office, leads swing dancing the third Friday of every month at Bath Dance Works (72 Front Street, third floor). Starting at 7pm there are dance lessons for beginners, and around 7:30pm the dancing heats up until 10pm. You can visit Bath Swing Dance on Facebook for more information. A big night is scheduled for the March 15 dance night, the Hadacol Bouncers will be playing live jazz swing music for viewing and dancing pleasure!
Round Pond Crossing

Due to shoreland restrictions, an addition directly above the existing cottage was not allowed. DMA turned this challenge into an opportunity to create an easier and safer access to the main house by bridging the new bedroom wing into an entrance connection over the steep grade of the site. Construction by Chapman Construction.
On the Drawing Board

Bordered by a sideyard setback, a stream and the New Meadows River, there is an extremely limited building envelope for a modern 2 bedroom cottage. The project is still going through the design stage with creative input from the client.
