Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Welcome to our newsletter, once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
Ground Breaking

At a balmy 5 degrees, the ground was broken for the Patriot Insurance Company project in Yarmouth. David joined representatives from Patriot Insurance Company, the town of Yarmouth, Landry/French, Grover Excavating and Sebago Technics to ceremonially begin this exciting project along Route One.

On the shores of the New Meadows, Ledgemere is getting an extensive renovation by  Oceanside Builders. A new entrance and roof line will help reduce the scale of the main facade, a completely renovated first floor will create a much more inviting and social living space, and special features like a new fireplace and unique kitchen design are perfectly suited for the owners. Construction will take place throughout the winter.

Twisted Christmas

The two evenings of Twisted Christmas early this December set the mood for the holidays in great fashion. Produced by Studio Theatre of Bath, it was a fun night of songs, skits, and general silliness. Cathy and David joined the stage again, this time as Bubbles and Buddy McJingles, prominent North Pole news broadcasters.  See the 6 minute skit  here.

Before / After

New owners recently purchased Berrie's Hearing and Optical Center in Brunswick, and were hoping to update and modernize their business and appearance along Maine Street.  After receiving Brunswick Village Review Board approval, and taking advantage of a BDA facade improvement grant, the building (in our opinion), looks much better. Construction is ongoing by East Shore Builders. Hopefully, you can tell which photo is the before and after.

Lunch and Learn

We took a break during the summer, but we are back to hosting lunch and learns for anyone interested in joining us for lunch...and learn. Marvin Windows and Doors will visit us on Thursday January 12 at noon to discuss their products. York Flashings will visit us Friday January 27 at noon to discuss different through-wall flashing materials. Both of these offer Continuing Education credits for architects.  Contact Cathy if interested in either.

Society Pages

This summer, during the Main Street Bath 15th year anniversary gala, David was spotted with his Mom, Betty Snowman of  My Comfort Clothes, by Faces Maine of Maine Magazine. The photo ended up on Faces Maine facebook page, the December issue of MH+D, and now is prominently displayed on Mom's wall as a Christmas present.

Nor far from Berries is a job nearing completion in Brunswick. Also going through the Brunswick Village Review Board process, this garage/studio addition will allow aging-in-place by incorporating an accessible garage, living spaces, and master bedroom suite all on one level with no steps. Construction by Fraser Ruwett.

DMA Christmas Party

DMA celebrated Christmas at one of their own projects within walking distance of the office. We enjoyed a fabulous meal at Salt Pine Social in Bath. There were fresh oysters, lamb kaftas, fried avocado, burgers, and yummy drinks..
