Newton Campus Connection is a newsletter that is updated every other week. It contains the latest information and is targeted to DMACC Newton Campus students.
Monday, September 6th, DMACC campuses will be closed in observance of Labor Day. There will be no classes. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 7th at 8:00 am and resume classes.
WIN $1000
As the fall semester begins, DMACC strongly encourages all members of the DMACC community to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect our #BearNation family. And as a special incentive, DMACC is giving students the opportunity to win a $1,000 cash prize if they have been fully vaccinated by the end of September!
A total of six students ― one from each DMACC campus ― who enter the drawing and meet the eligibility requirements will each win $1,000. In order to be eligible to win, you must be:​
  • ​​A DMACC student enrolled in at least 1 credit course this fall;
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Sept. 30th, 2021; and
  • ​Able to show proof of vaccination​

Are you looking for fellowship, encouragement, and prayer? This group meets weekly to read from the Bible or a Christian devotional and pray. Although this is a Christian group based on belief in Jesus for salvation, people of all faiths are welcome to attend. Prior to COVID-19, Americans were already dealing with an epidemic of loneliness. The pandemic has exacerbated an already problematic issue and made addressing it a priority for college students. This session will discuss the challenges of loneliness and practical steps to assist the DMACC student body.

 Innovation in Men’s Mental Health: Using Humor, Media, and Digital Engagement to Promote Mental Health and Prevent Suicide
Tuesday, November 9, 10a.m.-11a.m.
Men often do not seek mental health services or disclose suicidal thoughts for many reasons including fear of discrimination and prejudice, internalized stigmatized beliefs and misinformation. This workshop will describe an innovative, award-winning, multi-media mental health program called ‘Man Therapy’ that uses humor and digital formats to engage men to think differently about their mental health.

Dealing with Grief (non-death)
Monday, November 15, 2:00p.m.-3:00p.m.
When we think about grief and loss, we usually think about the death of someone. However, there are many other types of losses (loss of a job, a relationship, etc.) We also experienced many types of losses with the COVID pandemic (loss of social support, etc.) This workshop will discuss some of other types of losses and healthy coping mechanisms.

Healthy Relationships

Relationships are a cornerstone of the human experience. Whether they are romantic or based on friendship, they are a basic human need. While it is important to understand what an unhealthy relationship is, it can be harder to define the characteristics of a healthy one. We will explore both sides and push the social stereotypes between men and women.

Do you want to pay off your student loan faster?
If you are able, continuing to make payments on your loan servicer’s website has some benefits, such as paying off your loan faster and lowering the total cost of your loan over time. 
Federal student loan payments remain on pause through the end of January 31, 2022.

  • Your financial aid automatically applies to your student account.
 
 
  • DMACC issues an official College ID to all credit students, the DMACC OneCard. This College ID will provide access to student services such as library resources, events and activities. Make sure to activate your card and select your preference even if you do not receive financial aid, there may be instances in which you receive a refund from the College.
 
 
DMACC ID NUMBER
When contacting DMACC by phone or email, please know your DMACC ID and include it in the email or be ready to give it to the person you are on the phone with.
If you don't know your DMACC ID number. Check on any correspondence (email or mail) from DMACC. It will be on there. It it also in many places in myDMACC. If you have your DMACC One Card, it is also on there.
It will start with 90xxxxxxx.
