Del Mar Community Connections (DMCC) is a nonprofit with a mission to support and serve Del Mar older adults as they age independently at home. DMCC helps seniors live active, vibrant lives by providing transportation, education, and social activities. Now in our 25th year, DMCC is guided by a 13-member board of directors, and is staffed by two full time employees, four part time employees, and more than 110 volunteers.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), licensed in California, to serve as an Aging Resources Advocate on a 1099 independent contractor basis. This role involves providing brief, targeted support to older adults, including connecting them to local aging services, assessing needs, and documenting services in compliance with applicable standards.

The contractor will maintain regular twice-monthly office hours (set in coordination with our team) and have a flexible schedule that includes in-person client visits and occasional phone consultations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social worker looking for meaningful, part-time work with a community-focused organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide short-term, client-centered advocacy and support for aging adults
• Maintain regular twice-monthly office hours for client meetings
• Conduct client assessments via phone, in-office, or home visits as needed
• Assist clients in accessing California-based and San Diego County-based programs and services (e.g., IHSS, Medi-Cal, MSSP, caregiver support, housing resources, other nonprofit resources as needed)
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant administrative documentation of all services rendered, in line with nonprofit and California regulatory requirements
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with clients, caregivers, families, and community providers
• Explore resources for different levels of care
• Adhere to professional ethical standards, HIPAA, and California privacy laws

Required Qualifications

• Active California LCSW license in good standing
• At least 3 years of experience working with aging adults, preferably in a community-based, nonprofit, or healthcare setting
• Strong working knowledge of California and San Diego area aging services, public benefits, housing options, and support systems for seniors
• Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed, compliant service records
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-directed and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Must carry professional liability insurance (as required for independent contractors in California)
• Must pass Livescan criminal state and federal background check
• Must have reliable transportation for occasional client visits
