The NCDHHS Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services (DMHDDSUS), announces the recipients of funding from its latest Requests for Applications (RFAs) to expand access to mental health in all communities, support families and caregivers, and promote peer-led recovery. The funded initiatives advance the DMHDDSUS Strategic Plan priorities by working to improve mental health, intellectual/developmental disability, and substance use services for underserved communities statewide.
This year’s awards prioritize organizations with innovative approaches to addressing unmet needs, increasing access to care, valuing lived experience, and fostering culturally responsive support systems for historically underserved populations. Grant recipients represent diverse regions across North Carolina, encompassing both rural and urban areas, and include community-based nonprofits and healthcare providers.
The funded programs will deliver critical services such as mental health counseling, peer support, early intervention for intellectual/developmental disabilities, and crisis care. DMHDDSUS will provide technical assistance and establish metrics to evaluate the impact of these initiatives. This effort reflects DMHDDSUS' commitment to provide services that promote equity, inclusivity, and accessibility for all North Carolinians.
