June 2, 2025
County partners,
This email is to alert you to an important issue regarding June renewal notices for Plug-In Electric Vehicles (EVs).
Due to a timing issue between the printing of renewal cards and a system update for the annual EV registration fee adjustment (as required by SB21-260), the June renewal notices sent to EV owners with a June 30 registration expiration date reflect an incorrect amount due. Specifically, these notices show an amount that is $2.86 less than the correct fee.
The correct amount due is reflected in the DRIVES system.
The June renewal cards were printed the second week of May. The programming for the Plug-In Electric Vehicle Registration Fee increase, which is indexed to inflation and adjusts annually on July 1, went into production on May 29, 2025.
For your reference, the new fee for EV registration periods beginning July 1, 2025, will be $60.05.
Please ensure your staff are aware of this discrepancy and are advising customers that the amount in DRIVES is the correct amount to be paid.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. For any questions or concerns, please contact dor_vs.support@state.co.us.
