From the Office of Communications and Marketing:

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office at Queens College (located in Queens Hall) will host Student Walk-In Days on Wednesday, November 30 and Thursday, December 1 from 7:30 am to 4 pm. All Queens College students, as well as faculty and staff, can take this opportunity to obtain or upgrade to a REAL ID or Enhanced ID.

With six months to the federal deadline, according to the DMV, travelers will not be able to fly domestically within the United States without a REAL ID, an Enhanced ID, or a passport after May 3, 2023. Visit their website for more information about the federal requirements

Information Provided by the DMV:

The federal law requires those who are applying for a REAL ID to do so in person. Many DMV offices require customers to make a reservation. To upgrade to a REAL ID, you will need the following original documents (Photocopies are NOT acceptable):

  1. Proof of Social Security Number (Example: U.S. Social Security Card, W2, or Social Security Ineligibility Letter), and
  2. Proof of Date of Birth (Example: Passport, Passport Card, or Birth Certificate), and
  3. Two proofs of NYS Residency (Example: Current NYS Permit, Driver License or Non-Driver ID Card with current address, DMV Statement of Identity and/or Residency by Parent/Guardian MV-45, U.S. College ID Card with official transcript, Bank Statement, paystub, postmarked mail, etc.)

Please view the DMV Document Guide online.

For more information about REAL ID and Enhanced Driver Licenses, visit dmv.ny.gov/REALID and watch the DMV’s REALID informational videos on YouTube. If you do not qualify for the REAL ID or Enhanced ID, please make a reservation for your local DMV office online at dmv.ny.gov/offices/.
