Assistive Technology Program
Assistive Technology Awareness Day is March 1, 2024.
Assistive Technology (AT) helps people with disabilities achieve greater independence while improving their quality of life. AT is a tool that helps people accomplish tasks that would be difficult or impossible without assistance.
| |
DNEM's Assistive Technology Program is Here for You!
Our AT Specialist, Jeffrey Astrein, can help you find the right assistive technology to overcome any challenges you may have.
He can work with you in person or virtually.
Contact Jeffrey Astrein at
586-268-4160, ext. 6629 or JAstrein@DNEMichigan.org

Our Inclusive Recreation and Wellness Program is now known as RecConnect.
Previously called REC-IT, we believe RecConnect better captures the essence of our program. Through skill development and community integration, individuals with disabilities can gain the confidence and abilities needed to lead more healthy, independent and fulfilling lives.
Over 750 people participated in our RecConnect programs last year.
RecConnect programs are tailored to the needs and interests of the people we serve. To give input into our future programs, please complete our Community Recreation Survey below.
| |
From adaptive sports to engaging arts and music programs, RecConnect offers an array of opportunities. Visit our event calendar to check them out.
Smart911 helps first responders help you more quickly.
Anytime you make an emergency call from a phone registered with your Smart911 profile, the 911 system recognizes the phone number and displays your profile on the screen. Those details are especially helpful to first responders if you are panicked, unable to communicate, or it is unsafe to communicate. You choose what information is in your profile.
Smart911 is free, private and secure. Most 911 call centers participate.
The Smart911 app can also alert you about emergencies in your community.
When creating a Smart911 Profile, please use the DNEM group code of 170909. Using the code will allow us to know exactly how many people we have assisted.

"I want to express my gratitude toward Mary and the disability network team. She has been so helpful with leading me in the right direction when I felt overwhelmed and just did not know where to turn. Her kind words and encouragement help me every time I speak with her. She has helped me with the loss of my beloved husband of 41 years. Thank you and God bless Disability network team!"
