Event Details:
Minority-owned and women-owned businesses are cordially invited to attend this information session to learn how to successfully navigate the food-related procurement process at New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). The session will be hosted by the Office of Supplier Diversity (OSD) and Office of Food & Nutrition Services (OFNS).
OSD's mission is to create business opportunities for Minority/ and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs), while OFNS is tasked with providing high-quality food service to nearly 1 million students each school day. These two offices are partnering to advise potential M/WBEs food vendors on the various aspects and requirements of food service procurements.
The upcoming session will focus on how M/WBE vendors can secure NYCPS food-related small procurements and larger contracts, either as a primary contract awardee or as a subcontractor.
Prospective M/WBE vendors will learn about the following topics, along with other important information:
- USDA, NYC Food Policy and OFNS food guidelines
- How to apply to have your product added to our list of pre-approved brands
- Nutrition Facts Label requirements
- Packing requirements
- Product submission, review and student taste testing process
- How to register as a city-certified M/WBE
