The Green Season is in full swing! Sunday, March 1, we served 350 people at our Irish Breakfast, then spent Monday, March 2, meeting Cliodhna O'Sullivan who introduced us to her first novel, Her Hidden Fire. Friday, March 6, we celebrated Proclamation Day in Downtown Columbus and recruited several new members along the way. View photos on our Facebook page.
Wednesday, March 11, we will visit Fado Easton for the Perfect Pour contest and thank them for the meat they donated to the Irish Breakfast.
- Guinness is doing a Ripple Event, arrive 5:30 pm. Get pictures on your pints!
- Bring a photo and have it printed on the top of your Guinness
- Perfect Pint contest. Sign-ups start 6 pm.
- “Split the G” contest
Then, the countdown to the BIG DAY! Saturday, March 14 in Dublin, Ohio and Tuesday, March 17 in Columbus, Ohio.
We're so excited to share in the Dublin and Columbus Saint Patrick's Day parades! Margie Hess, Jessica Hedgecock, Sheila Hively, and the Parade Committee have been building an amazing parade float and costumes to highlight the Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley. DUBLIN SAINT PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
Saturday, March 14
Line Up on Metro North - Yellow #11
9:30 AM - Float Arrival
10:00 AM - Walkers Arrival
The Parade begins at 11 a.m. in Metro Center and ends on South High Street near Waterford Drive in Historic Dublin.
- All members participating in this parade must walk, unless they prearrange a ride on the float. There will be no cars to transport members. There are designated parking areas. Arrive early to get to our position on time.

- Head to Riverside Crossing Park immediately following the St. Patrick’s Day Parade for a chance to make history! Visit Dublin, Ohio, is inviting residents and visitors to help set a world record for the Largest Human Shamrock on Saturday, March 14, at 1:30 p.m.

2026 SAINT PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
Member of the Year Marcia Springer has volunteered to be Grace O'Malley in the parade. There are many costumes available for those interested in marching in the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in costume. Columbus Saint Patrick's Day Details:
- 8-8:45 am - Bexley Beat Bus shuttles will run from Nationwide Boulevard in front of the Convention Center to Neilston & Naghten. $1 per rider, PLUS a Shamrock Club badge. Tips to the driver strongly encouraged.

9 am - Procession to St. Patrick’s Church - Intersection of Neilston & Naghten. Please arrive by 8:45 am

9:30 am - Mass at St. Patrick’s Church

10-11 am: Parade Check-in Point: the parade entries should report to the check in area. The check in point is on West Broad Street and McDowell streets (near the old Spaghetti Warehouse). There will be Parade Marshals there to let you know where to line up for the parade.
Click on the link for the St. Patrick’s Day Mass live streamed at St. Patrick Church. After Mass, busses will take everyone at Mass from the church to the parade staging area.
11:30 am - The parade steps off - from Broad and McDowell street and heads East on Broad Street, North on High Street, and end at the Columbus Convention Center, Battelle Hall.

Irish Family Reunion - We still have tickets available for purchase. Contact Peggy Shanahan if you need some at 614-323-6941 cell.
- 8-10 am - The Convention Center, Battelle Hall, doors are open for table decorating and cooler drop off. No balloons.
- 11 am - Battelle Hall Doors Open
You may bring your own food to enjoy but no alcoholic beverages are permitted to be brought in by guests. Coolers will be checked by Convention Center staff upon entry. Waivers were signed stating that no alcohol will be brought into the Convention Center. If you are found to have brought alcohol inside, you risk being banned from purchasing any future Irish Family Reunion tickets.

MEMBERSHIP Membership is open to all women with a genuine interest in Irish culture. The Daughters of Erin provides its members the opportunity to strengthen their Irish cultural ties and to make lasting friendships. Members receive our monthly newsletter "Echo of Erin" which covers all Irish community events and organization news.
To vote in the May election dues must have been paid one month before the election.

ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT
The Egg Hunt Saturday, April 4, gates open at 11 am. Bring a basket or bag, money for the great raffles (which pays for the party). We provide lunch to all, goody bags and the Shamrock Club's beautiful grounds to hide all those eggs.
If you would like to donate anything for the raffle you can bring it that morning or drop off at the club 614-491-4449 any Tuesday or Thursday 9:30 am-2:30 pm.

FINAL CALL – DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING
The Irish Life Experience is a 26-day summer program introducing North American students to the characteristics and qualities of Irish life. This year’s program is from June 28-July 23, 2026 and consists of a wide variety of classes, workshops, and tours based in a variety of locations throughout Ireland.
Each year, the Daughters of Erin, the Shamrock Club, and the Greater Columbus Irish Cultural Foundation sponsor one student to participate in this program and pays nearly all expenses.
Deadline to apply: Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

DOE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FOR SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE
Annual scholarship is $3,000 to be awarded to one (1) recipient. The 2026 scholarship deadline is Wednesday, April 1.
CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION
- Must be a member of the Daughters of Erin for over one year and in good standing.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the goals and mission of The Daughters of Erin through their active service.
- Have a 3.0 GPA or above.
- Demonstrate service to their school and community.

Must be a full-time student pursuing either a two or four-year undergraduate college degree.
APPLICATION MATERIALS
Applicants must submit the following:
- A copy of your most recent high school or college transcript, sent to the Scholarship Committee directly from the school.
- Two letters of recommendation. At least one letter must be from a teacher, clergy, or employer.
- A typed cover letter to the Scholarship committee.
- An essay regarding why you deserve the scholarship.
