Central Ohio's Largest Irish-American Women's Organization
"American by birth, Irish by the grace of God!"

Dear Daughters of Erin Members,

Thank you for your hard work at our recent events over the summer. Your time and help made the scone baking, golf outing, and Dublin Irish Festival Tea Room a big success.

A heart felt thank you to Debbie Lynch, who led our three big events this summer with great care and hard work. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to Jessica Hedgecock for allowing us to use her garage to store our DOE supplies and save us $264 per month in expense.

Our next General Meeting will be on Sunday, Sept. 13 with social starting at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. I hope to see you all there as we talk about upcoming events for the next year. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

SEPTEMBER MEETING

We can't wait to see you at the first meeting of the new year! This is the 48th year as Central Ohio's Largest Irish Women's organization!

Sunday, Sept. 13 at 2 pm, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus 43212. We meet @ 1:30 pm for snacks and get-to-know members prior to the meeting.

View the June 2026 Membership Meeting minutes.

  • Hospitality asks us to bring tailgate snacks

The Junior Division will have a meeting at 1:30 pm.

CHARITIES

We are collecting school supplies for our September charity. Items needed are loose leaf paper (either wide or college ruled), single subject notebooks, pens, crayons and pencils.

If you are traveling and staying at hotels - or have these items collected through the years, please bring home “mini” sized toiletries that you do not use. We will use them for one of the Fall charities.

ADOPT-A-FAMILIES

If you know of a family in need that could benefit by being “adopted’ at Christmas, please send an email to Marianne Wenger (mwenger1101@gmail.com) describing their situation. The need does not necessarily have to be related the family’s finances. For example, in the past we adopted a father and his two young sons after the death of their mother.

Deadline to submit: Thursday, Oct. 15. This will allow us sufficient time to review the families, meet with them to determine needs, organize a wish-list spreadsheet, prepare the sign-up genius, and create tags for the Shamrock Club “tree” – all needing done before Black Friday.

Thank you, Marianne Wenger, mwenger1101@gmail.com.

DART LEAGUE

Hello Lady Darters! The 2026-27 dart league begins at the Shamrock Club, Thursday, Sept. 10.

  • If you are interested, we're seeking new teams and additional players for existing teams.
  • Subs are needed every week, stop by to check it out! Try it -- you might like it!!
  • Reminder, darters should arrive at 7 pm with play beginning at 7:15 pm.
  • Teams can have up to five players. Some teams need one or two more players!

DUBLIN IRISH FESTIVAL TEA ROOM

Dear Volunteers,

Thank you so much to everyone who donated their time to the Tea Room. Our success is entirely due to our wonderful group of volunteers, including the husbands who helped out.

Despite the rain, sales remained strong, and we completely sold out of all baked goods by early Sunday afternoon. Thank you to all the bakers who supplied these goods for the festival.

We already know we will need to make more brown and Irish soda breads, shortbread cookies, and possibly more scones for next year. Please feel free to contact me with any additional suggestions.

Thank you all for your time and dedication.

Best regards,

Debbie Lynch

MEMBER THANK YOU

Hello All,

I can’t begin to tell you how much I really appreciate how caring and wonderful all of you are. The beautiful encouraging cards, the helping hands, words of support and of course the many prayers (please keep them coming) are helping me though this difficult time. I just want to say “Thank You” for thinking of me.

Love and Hugs, Peggy McCathran

choice. For nonmembers this covers a Pub Membership until December 31, 2026.

MEDIA NUNS & ECOMMERCE MONKS

Picture America’s most chronically online job: making TikToks for a living. Now picture who’s behind the camera. A Catholic sister in a full habit, filming between prayers in a Boston convent.

Meet the Daughters of St. Paul, aka the Media Nuns. Sister Bethany has more than 198,000 TikTok followers. One video of the sisters answering rapid-fire questions pulled 3.4 million views.

They dance, lip-sync, answer the questions everyone’s afraid to ask a nun. The comments are full of people who haven’t set foot in a church in years.

Deep in the Wyoming mountains, Carmelite monks fund their monastery by roasting Mystic Monk Coffee. You can order it online to be shipped to your door. Sites like Monastery Greetings are basically Amazon for the abbey set: fruitcake from Missouri monks, caramels from Trappistine nuns, soaps, honey, hot sauce.

These are the most intentional tech users I’ve ever seen. The sisters post, then put the phone down for hours of prayer, meals together, actual silence. The tech serves the mission, never the other way around. No doomscrolling. No checking likes at dinner.

Most of us let our phones decide what we care about. These devoted men and women found the answer to the question we’re all fumbling with: how to live in the feed without letting the feed live in you. And they get engagement rates most influencers would pray for. Read more.
