WEEK IN REVIEW

Say hello to Lemmy. He is a rescue that original name was Lenny. His boy renamed him Lemmy after a character in Mario Kart. Lemmy had gotten so fresh his kids would lock themselves in their room to get away from him ( and at least in the boy's case play video games!). Jumping, mouthing just very naughty. His girl has holes in all the legs of her PJ's from him! The lesson was a complete shock to Lemmy. He is plenty smart and has been playing his family like a violin. He was absolutely flummoxed by the new rules and training. Hopefully the behavioral changes will stick.

Great turnout for last Saturday's Obedience walk. I took Princess for a while to settle her down. Nice time, good playtime!

I did a puppy lesson with Buffy the poodle. She is a fourth generation member of Dogman Nation. Her older sister Sandy is very fresh and very barky. We did the alpha stare with Buffy. Her owner tried the Alpha stare with Sandy and what a dramatic effect it had on her! She stopped growling at me and did not bother the puppy over the kneecap I had given her. Barking is bad!!! It leads to aggression. I hope Buffy does not pick up this bad habit from her sisters. The lesson went well, maybe this time her owners will use the crate an prevent separation anxiety! LOL Fourth time pays for all:)

I think I have figured out why princess is so attractive to the ladies, her wrinkles instinctively remind them of a fat baby!

It was Taylor's cat ZibBee's birthday this week. She made him a catfood cake with a candle a meowed happy birthday to him. This is Zigbee with one of his presents. Zigbee is in the newsletter because he knows how to sit, sit pretty, spin and high five. During our walks we do trick time. Trick training is great for your dog's mental health. The act of learning trick engages their seeking system. It is like you taking a vacation to a new place. Your dog is easier to train than a cat. Get on it!

When researched presented adults and children with a lifeboat dilemma of being able to save one human life or many dogs lives, the adults chose the human and children chose the dogs. This means that the idea that a human life is more important than a dog's has to be taught.

DOG BLOG

I was attacked by cuteness as I tried to watch the Bills Bengals game at Dogboy's home. Liam has a lot of personality. Even though he is a middle child he demands and gets his share of attention without being too naughty. He is fresh and determined, but very cute. Jakey is a good boy and good big brother. The baby, Connor, (not pictured) looks like a combination of my two boys when they were babies. He has Alex's coloring and face shape, but the pudgy cuteness of Mikey. I wanted to root for the Bills. They have been through so much this year with the shooting, the snow storm, and the heart attack to Damar Hamlin... but I really couldn't. They should have gone to the super bowl last year, they were better. Last year when we played them, they did not have to punt! This year we should have beaten them and had the lead in the last game of the season. I also just love Joe Burrows. He is soooo coool and a player. They are going to crush the Chiefs, especially since Mahomes is injured. ( I would definitely have rooted for the Bills over the Chiefs, for what ever reason I do not like Mahomes.) I think the Eagles are going to end Purdy's Cinderella season and take the whole thing. They remind me of the Chicago Bears when we played them in 1986.

My brother Chris, Olddog, lives in France. He reads my newsletter and follows my Facebook posts so we communicate better than I do with my siblings in Massachusetts. He has always been tech savvy and a head of his time, although I think some of the new apps are catching up to him. He is still way ahead of me when it comes to computers. He saw an appeal I posted for someone to make it look like a plane was flying under one of the bridges on the Canal. I want the image to illustrate an actual event that happened in WWII. The Coastal air patrol flew every day for a year weather permitting in search of U-boats. They never saw one, but what we found out after the was that the U-boats saw them and had to submerge. Anyway the pilots were bored and decided to fly under all three bridges in their little Stinson Reliants. This was braver than you might think as there were anti-aircraft artillery positions around each bridge! Someone from a photograph page had a good shot of the RR bridge. I found a Reliant image and Chris was able to marry the two together.

Chris then was playing around with a photo of an Anti-Aircraft Artillery demonstration photo taken at Scorton Neck, Sandwich. He outlined it. Now we are thinking of making a coloring book for the Cape Cod Military Museum!

THE 26th YANKEE DIVISON IN WWII

The hour-long photo/lecture starts with the pre-war activation of the Division. Then we go over 26th's participation in the Carolina Maneuvers. After the Pearl Harbor attack the 26th was put to use in coastal defense. The Division was then sent to the Tennessee Maneuvers. In the Fall of 1944, the Yankee Division was deployed to Europe. The YD played a major role in the Battle of Bulge.

We chronicle the heavy fighting during the winter to the rapid pursuit of the crumbling Nazi empire in the spring of 1945. Lecture by Joe Yukna Cape Cod Military Museum.
