Beginning this academic year, DOM launched a mentorship initiative for incoming faculty, offering one-on-one coaching, quarterly professional development sessions, and a strong peer cohort across divisions and sites. Learn more here.

DOM in the News

Peter Chin-Hong noted rising COVID levels amid uncertainty over fall vaccine availability (Los Angeles Times), discussed the chikungunya outbreak in China (Washington Post, Fox News), and explained that while the RSV vaccine provides at least two years of protection, uptake remains limited (New York Times).

Sarah Patterson noted lupus symptoms may ease with age as immune activity declines, decreasing inflammation and potentially allowing reduced treatment (Women’s Health).

Timothy Henrich and team: a grant of $11.8M over five years from the National Institute on Drug Abuse for a project entitled, “In vivo imaging and post-mortem study of methamphetamine use on immune dysfunction and HIV reservoir transcription among people with HIV on ART.”

Judith Ashouri Sinha: a grant of $2.6M over five years from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases for a project entitled, “Endogenous retroviruses in autoimmunity: T cell repertoire, tolerance, and disease.”

Jesse Ikeme: a grant of $955K over five years from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for a project entitled, “Assessing Patient-Centric Factors and Enhancing Risk Communication to Improve Treatment Persistence in Kidney and Cardiovascular Care.”
