Member Brief Bytes
The Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau serves our business members,
promotes our local assets, and shapes the future of our community.
SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT
I have to share that I am using SERVPRO as we speak! There is water in our basement storage room that soaked through the carpet and pad. The team came out yesterday and tore out the pad and now have a commercial dehumidifier and fans blowing to dry things out until the Project Manager can come out and inspect where the water came from. Thanks SERVPRO - love having a Chamber member I can call on!
CHAMBER EVENTS
SCAMS, SHAMS & SCHEMES (FREE TO ALL)
THIS Tuesday, October 4th 10:00 a.m.
Buffalo American Legion

This best be on your calendar! I just got a message last week from one of our local banks, about another new scam. It is a prevalent- and it's not just for old people! Please share with employees where they can encourage family members attend. It is free and open to all. A big thanks to our member/community banks for working together to give this presentation along with our Buffalo Police Department. I'm sure we will hear some interesting stories. Just don't let it happen to you!
LAST WEEK'S GOOD MORNING BUFFALO WELL ATTENDED AT THE
 WATER TREATMENT PLANT!
Was very interesting to learn of where we access, treat, store and monitor our water for the community. Did you know the City uses 1.1 million gallons a day with a peak of 3.3 million gallons at peak times (like summer/watering lawns)? Our water towers hold our water and when the tower levels get to 27 feet of water the pump kicks in and pulls more up. The well that the plant sits on is 3-400 feet deep. There were pipes bringing in water, pipes and pools that process the water, and pipes pumping the water back out and to the towers. Water is tested daily. We have very clean water here, though still hard, with some iron.

Soon the City will be doing the hydrant flushing again (done twice a year) so they can clean out all the lines. This stirs up any iron and manganese deposits, which is why your water in your toilet/sinks may be rusty looking for a day or two. So much more to it, but very interesting and the building houses one employee and all the water pipes. See all the photos below!

Thank you, City of Buffalo, for being great hosts. All of us got a goodies bag, great treats and American Family/Chris Chapman Agency won $100 in Buffalo Bucks for having staff present. Don't miss out on our Good Morning Buffalo's!
Mayor Teri Lachermeier was at Good Morning Buffalo and presented the Chamber members with a painting by Mary Zillman that's titled "We Grow to be Strong". It was shared at the Street Party of Hope and now can travel from office to office.

It currently is being shown at the Karna Kleven Farner's Agency. Let me know if you would like to be next. The thought is to collect comments about it and share about strength and resiliency.
BUSINESS INFORMATION
Workforce Training Programs for Businesses
Did you know that Central Minnesota Jobs and Training Services (CMJTS) has programs to help train your workers? CMJTS has multiple programs to assist businesses with training their current workers in skills they may need!

A couple of the programs are Incumbent Worker Training and On the Job Training. Click below to view more information on what both programs are all about. - Central Minnesota Jobs and Training Services, Inc. (cmjts.org)

Don't forget the Talent Puerto Rico seminar is later TODAY if that is something you are interested in regarding your workforce!
BUFFALO AREA DEMENTIA FRIENDS ARE BACK!

After a hiatus due to the pandemic and the leading lady losing her spouse to dementia during that same time, we are now ready to have a strong presence in the community! I sit on this team. I believe that being aware and knowing the signs of dementia is something all business owners should know.

Now over a year ago, these cards were given to many of you Chamber members. If you hid them away due to not having anything touchable out for your customer/guests and feel comfortable resurrecting them that would be appreciated. If you would like one, or you need more cards to fill your stand, let me know - I have a supply here.

What was born from the development of this initiative is a caregiver support group that is still going strong today! Let's keep sharing the signs and having the conversations!
MEMBER/COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS
A COUPLE THINGS ON THE CALENDAR FOR THIS SATURDAY!
A SMALL BUT MIGHTY ARMY OF CHAMBER MEMBERS/GO GIVERS VOLUNTEER

A group of business leaders (all Chamber members) has been meeting for a couple of years with the premise that having a servant heart will lend to your bottom line - and in this case - lend a hand in our community! Wrapped in Love, a non-profit store for foster families, had a need to sort clothing for the new fall/winter season.

Brit Haskins of Pour L'Amour Wine Bar in Annandale (soon to be Parisian Corner here in Buffalo), Mariel Novacek from Optimal Function Physical Therapy and Wellness, Tina Anderson of Anchor Realty and Chrystal Fischer from Parenting with Grace all helped sort and fold!
INSURANCE CENTER OF BUFFALO GETS A NEW LOOK!

Did you notice? New paint and trim on the exterior and a new electronic sign! Gary and staff have been moving and shaking in their building. If you haven't been inside - stop in - it's a beautiful office space. Always love when businesses make an investment in our community.
LOTS HAPPENING AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER - AND IT ISN'T
JUST FOR SENIORS!
KEEPING YOU IN THE KNOW
