Dear Orange County School Community,

Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) is excited to share a FREE, new online parenting resource - "Triple P – Positive Parenting Program” for Orange County families. Triple P is a highly successful, evidence-based parenting education program that helps to develop and support positive relationships between parents and children, improve parent confidence and competence, and make family life easier and more enjoyable.

It will also help to address the unique social-emotional and behavioral health challenges parents and children are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic by providing skills and strategies to manage parenting stressors and children's concerns.
Access to the free Online Triple P curriculum

The Online Triple P curriculum has separate offerings for parents with children and for parents with teens. The Triple P for children is available in English and Spanish, and Teen Triple P Online is available in English.

English: Parent Website
Spanish: Parent Website

Parents registering can select the language of their choice on the website registration form. Anyone whose IP address is located within Orange County will be allowed to access the program via the dedicated Orange County Triple P parent website for up to one year from the date of sign up.
What will families receive?

Orange County parents and caregivers will be provided with free access to Triple P Online (designed for parents of children aged approximately 2-12 years) and/or Teen Triple P Online (designed for parents of 12 to 16-year-olds). Parents can work through the modules at their own pace, using their internet-connected phone, computer, or other device.

Each module includes an interactive mix of videos, brief activities, ongoing self-assessments, and ways to practice positive parenting skills. Parents can also request additional support, also at no cost, from an OCHCA Parent Liaison. This can be done via the parent website contact form or through email following registration.

OCHCA Triple P Parent Liaisons

A team of specially trained Parent Liaisons will be available to assist parents and caregivers who have general parenting questions or who would like to be connected with other County services. To access the program, parents and caregivers can submit a request to OCHCA for “real time” assistance, and they will be matched with a Parent Liaison within 1-2 business days. In a crisis situation, a Parent Liaison can quickly connect the parent/caregivers with OCHCA crisis management services.

What’s included in each module?

The Triple P Online for children program has 8 modules, plus an extra COVID-19 module. The Teen Triple P Online has 6 modules and an extra COVID-19 module.

Benefits include:

  • Empowerment & Flexibility: Triple P Online encourages parents to set goals for themselves and to decide what steps they would like to try within their family. The program respects parents’ values, beliefs, and needs, and parents are encouraged to tailor strategies to suit their individual situation.
  • Relationship building: Parents progress through the program one module at a time and must complete each section before moving on to the next module. Parents will learn useful tips and strategies for how to build a good relationship with their children and to encourage behaviors they want, before learning how to manage disobedience. The material presented in each module is short and easy-to-use.
  • Speed and convenience: Parents who are not able to receive face-to-face services can benefit from starting the online program. It is ideal for busy or isolated parents, co-parents, grandparents, and other caregivers.
  • Privacy: For parents who feel uncomfortable seeking additional parenting support, Triple P Online can be used independently.
