WAKE UP BUFFALO

TIMBER BAY

TOMORROW, October 8th 8:00 a.m.

2362 County Road 35 W (park by shop)

Head out of town just a bit on 35 past Mill Creek. Follow 35 south. It's not far - just a few miles from the Chamber office - so don't let the address scare you away!

Timber Bay has been supporting youth in the Buffalo area for 30 years (see their anniversary celebration below). During this time they have used many spaces for their large group meeting times, one-on-one mentoring and small group gatherings. They now have been given an opportunity to purchase a space that would be ideal to facilitate the work they do with their struggling youth.

Come hear more about what they do and see the space they hope to call home for the next 30 years!

CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE FORUM LAST NIGHT

Was great to hear from incumbents Bradley Dahl and Erin Walsh, and candidate Jenny Stuhr on the 7 questions they were asked as a result of a public poll. Thank you for stepping up to serve. It's not always an easy job. Thanks also to Tyler Reiss for being the moderator.

By now you should have heard directly from the Minnesota Secure Choice Retirement Program, but wanted to be sure you were aware that there is a website with video to help you enroll your staff: https://securechoice.mn.gov/

Here is the basics of the program:

Businesses are required to register if they have 5 or more employees and do not offer a qualified retirement plan. If you do offer a plan, you need to go on the site and certify your exemption. You must remit payroll data and keep staff information current. This is all explained on the website.

Employees must be at least 18 years old and have worked for you for 180 days. They are enrolled automatically (once you enter their data). They can opt out of the program, but you cannot do it for them.

Here are the dates that you must have your business set up with the program:

50-99 employees - 12/31/2026

25-49 employees - 6/30/2027

10-24 employees - 12/31/2027

5-9 employees - 6/30/2028

For questions call 855-938-1474 or email employerservices@securechoice.mn.gov

NEW MEMBERS 2026

SWEET SISTERS
18 Central Ave

763-237-4376

www.sweetsisterssoda.com

Opening October 24th!

Hours of Operation:

Thursdays and Sunday 2:00-8:00

Fridays 2:00-9:00

Saturdays 9:00-9:00

Sisters from Maple Lake, Shelly Lindenfelser and Liz Mazzuco, are more than just sisters, they are best friends and they love spending time together, creating fun experiences with family and friends.

It was natural, then, that when the topic of opening a business came up, that they would create a fun, welcoming place where people can stop in, treat themselves, connect with others and leave a little happier than when they came. Their motto: "Life is Sweeter Together" really captures what they hope Sweet Sisters will bring to the community!

Besides the awesome experience they hope to create for their guests, their menu will be sweet as well! They will provide fun, customizable dirty sodas alongside a colorful array of candy and sweets. They plan to serve families, kids and teens, friends meeting up, co-workers taking a break and visitors to DT Buffalo. Need a pick me up - go there! Want to celebrate - go there! It sounds like a great place to hang out to me!

I'm sure you will all get to know the sisters, but here are some fun facts to start the conversation: They are each other's only sibling, they live just 3 miles apart, they travel together, take care of parents together and always find a reason to be together! They say they are sisters by chance, but best friends by choice. Life is sweeter together!

They will be opening on Ladies Day Out - October 24th - in the building that was previously Evelyn's Wine Bar. Stay tuned for their plans to develop the lower level in the future.

Welcome to Chamber family - we are so excited you are here!

AMBASSADORS ON THE MOVE

MINNWEST BANK

3130 2nd St S, St. Cloud

507-993-3782

melissao@minnwestbankgroup.com

It's not often we get a member from a community that's not right next door, but Melissa Olson of Minnwest Bank out of St. Cloud has been super engaging with our membership as Minnwest is a community bank that caters to people in the more rural areas. They have 36 locations.

Melissa, as a mortgage lender, does a lot of work with first time home buyers. Minnesota has some great grants to work with. There is a new grant just out, that offers $15,000 in forgivable debt. They can do construction loans and bridge loans as well. Typically, they remain the mortgage holder for the entity of the loan, which I personally, find nice.

If you know someone that is a first-time home buyer - would be worth giving Melissa a call and finding out more!

Thanks for being a great Buffalo Chamber member Melissa!

Below is Melissa, Ambassador Ella Dietman, Melissa and Ambassador Megan Narveson.

BUFFALO COMMUNITY THEATER

THE WEDDING SINGER

Discovery Elementary School Stage

214 1st Ave NE

OCTOBER 29th and 30th, Sunday November 1st

NOVEMBER 6th/7th and Sunday November 8th

Get your tickets https://app.arts-people.com/?show=357152

I can't wait for this one - I already got my tickets! ! My family enjoyed the movie with Adam Sandler and it can only get better by having our own local talent perform it live! Come on out - ask some friends - make a night of it! Support our local community theater who is celebrating 40 years next year!

The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, The Wedding Singer’s sparkling new score does for the ’80s what Hairspray did for the ’60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in twenty years.

It’s 1985, and rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

FARMER'S MARKET & CRAFT FAIR
