missionstoryA New Beginning

Her only focus was to survive for her children. In 1999 when KC was diagnosed with HIV, she was a single mother of four who had just escaped an abusive relationship. She was young and afraid, but driven to create a good life for her four children. Her first goal was to find a place to live. When her case manager told her about DOORWAYS housing opportunities, KC quickly applied and was approved. "When I got the news, I was so elated, because.... (continue)
DragBingoDrag BINGO for DOORWAYS

On Tuesday, June 19, Hamburger Mary's St. Louis was filled with a capacity crowd for an evening of bingo and drag to benefit DOORWAYS. Performance artists Nina DiAngelo and Desire Declyne led the bingo and provided entertainment between games. The evening also included a raffle for a Fierce Basket of Booze donated by DOORWAYS volunteers Steve and Kathy Eiser, and Rudi Bertrand and Paul Williams, M.D.

"Everyone had a wonderful time, and we raised over $1,500 that will be used to help us assure housing for homeless individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS," noted Opal M. Jones, president and CEO of DOORWAYS. "We are grateful to Hamburger Mary's St. Louis for inviting us to be the spotlight charity and to the many individuals who supported the event."
DonorAppreciation Keystone Donor Appreciation Reception

Membership has its perks! Being a member of the Keystone Society guarantees DOORWAYS has sufficient cash flow to accommodate the needs of our clients. Keystone membership includes opportunities to meet your fellow members at interesting and different venues, attend a President's Lunch, and privately tour DOORWAYS' facilities.

The Keystone Donor Appreciation event was held at the St. Louis Club and was hosted by Keystone Society member and former board member, John Russell.  Attendees at the event had an opportunity to hear from DOORWAYS President and CEO Opal Jones, Board Chair Jay Moore, M.D. and Residential Program Director Tina Pelts who introduced a resident who spoke about the ways DOORWAYS has assisted their family. Exciting news, great party, generous guests!

The 2018 Pride Festival in St. Louis was held Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24, at Soldiers Memorial Park in downtown Saint Louis with the theme "Remember.Rise.Respect." DOORWAYS sponsored a booth on both days to share information on the critical housing needs for homeless individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Visitors to the booth could also enter a drawing for a bike donated by Regions Bank, or play Plinko to win a prize. DOORWAYS clients, volunteers, and staff walked in the parade on Sunday. "This is an annual event that creates such excitement in the community," explained DOORWAYS President Opal M. Jones. "We are extremely grateful to Regions Bank for their partnership and to the many people who partnered with DOORWAYS at the booth and in the parade. This year we expanded our reach with more than 1,000 people visiting our tent and 432 entering our drawing."

HONOR THOSE YOU LOVE WITH A TRIBUTE DONATION THROUGH DOORWAYS

Question:
How often does one action yield two results?
Answer: All the time, if you designate your DOORWAYS donation as a tribute to a loved one!

You may make a monetary gift in HONOR of someone's birthday, anniversary, new job, new baby...the list is endless. You may also provide a monetary gift as a MEMORIAL for someone who passed away. Or, you may purchase a tribute BRICK to be placed in our garden at the Cooper House campus. If you wish to help us GROW THE TRIBUTE GARDEN, you may select from three brick sizes: $100, $250, or $500.

By expressing your admiration, love, and respect through a TRIBUTE GIFT, you are also providing critical funding to help DOORWAYS deliver housing, health, and hope to homeless people living with HIV/AIDS. Click here for more information about making a tribute gift while also supporting DOORWAYS' compassionate care to the most vulnerable in our community.
