New Dana Point Harbor Manager to Start June 9th

OC Parks has hired Shannon Levin as our new Dana Point Harbor Manager, starting June 9th.  Shannon is presently the harbor supervisor for the City of Newport Beach, and brings with her 14 years of municipal experience.  Read the OC Parks press release here

Shannon's initial responsibilities will include oversight of our harbor's various leases and operating agreements, including those with our marina operators and dry storage facility.  After the County selects a private developer to renovate and operate our harbor under a 66-year master lease, Shannon will serve as the County's primary liaison with the new operator.  Shannon will also serve as our Dana Point Harbor community's primary point of contact with County agencies, such as OC Parks.  She will be our go-to person for most matters pertaining to our harbor.

[ Read more about the status of the selection of a private developer in our previous newsletters here and here.]

We are pleased with the selection of Shannon Levin as Dana Point Harbor Manager.  Having met her during the interview process, we were impressed by her experience with municipal marina management, as well as her familiarity with our harbor's obligations to the Dana Point Tidelands Trust and the unique rules that govern our harbor.  She demonstrated extensive knowledge of marina operations, and exhibited a fair and even-handed approach to boater relations.  We are confident that our boating community will be pleased as they get to know Shannon.  Please offer her a warm Dana Point Harbor welcome, and maybe give her a few days to settle in before pestering her about that one nagging issue...

We plan to meet with Shannon soon and intend to share with you her vision as our new harbor manager.  If you have any questions or suggestions you would like to offer Shannon, don't forget about our Boater Liaison Program.

Thank you,

For the Board of Directors

MISSION STATEMENT

The Dana Point Boaters Association advocates the preservation, enhancement, and expansion of affordable recreational boating resources.  We work to improve the family friendly atmosphere and breadth of water-oriented actives we all enjoy in the harbor.  We serve as the watchdog by ethically protecting the rights of all boaters and representing them when collective action is most effective.  We actively gather information and communicate our views to educate boaters, external interests, and public officials.  We build and maintain constructive, working relationships to achieve common goals with other harbor stakeholders.  We will pass on our harbor to the next generation of recreational boaters in better condition than it is today.
