A Message from the Principal

|
Hello DPM Families,
Happy New Year & Welcome Back! We hope that everyone had a restful break and is geared up for the second half of the year. We are so excited to welcome our hybrid students back to the building on Monday. With that in mind, we would like to reiterate some important details for returning students.
We are receiving many inquiries from families about expectations for students returning to school if they traveled over the break, specifically “if we traveled during the break, but get tested this week with a negative result, can my child return to school on Monday?” We believe it’s not where you go, or who you are with during the Winter Break, but rather how you mitigate the risk of transmission while doing so. Students will not automatically be excluded due to travel during the break.
To ensure that all students have a safe return to school, we are strongly encouraging all students be tested prior to their return. If you choose not to test and engaged in high-risk activities over the break (whether you traveled or not), we encourage you to keep your child home and monitor their health for 14 days from the date of last exposure to a high-risk situation.
In addition, the most recent guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regarding travel restrictions recommends that anyone who has traveled internationally or domestically where COVID-19 transmission is high or increasing, should stay home and monitor their health for 14 calendar days.
We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday. We wish everyone great weekend.

Self-Certification Reminder
Starting January 11th, students will be returning to in-person learning. Families need to complete the self-certification prior to 7:45 am, regardless of an AM cohort arrival or a PM cohort arrival. Students that have not completed self-certification and do not have proof of self-certification will not be able to board the bus or enter the building. Families must use this link and complete certification prior to 7:45 am. Families can also locate DPM self-certification on the Deer Path homepage. Students must present a paper copy or digital copy of self-certification form when they arrive on campus. When arriving on campus, students must have on a mask when they arrive at DPM. Students without a face covering/mask will be provided a disposable mask for the day.
Arrival and Departure
Remember we are continuing to have our arrival to DPM in the back of our campus. Upon arriving on campus, students must stay in their vehicles until 8:30am for the AM cohort or 12:50pm for the PM cohort. Students will then walk to their designated grade level area and enter their grade level doors. 5th grade students will enter at door F, by the VersaCourt and 6th grade students will enter door G, the back of the 5/6 lobby near the auditorium. 7th and 8th grade students will be entering on the West side of campus, through doors N and M. Arrival supervisors, teachers, staff and administrators will check students to verify their self certification was completed.
At the end of the school day, students will be dismissed by class one at a time. Students who are picked up by a parent/guardian, will exit the through the back of the building and walk to their respective vehicle. Students who ride the bus will exit through the front of the building and board their respective bus to go home. Students are not permitted to remain in the school following dismissal, they must exit the building.
Supporting Students During Quarantine
Due to the circumstances of the school year, students may be unable to attend in person for extended periods of time. In these cases, students should continue to access and attend the remote part of their day online, which includes synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences. Teachers will provide work for students to complete during the absence, and staff members will check in with students on a weekly basis to see how the students are doing and if they need any support. Please know that non-essential travel that results in the need to quarantine upon return is greatly discouraged, as it creates a loss of true instructional time for students and an additional workload on teachers and staff.
SAEBRS & Fastbridge screening assessments
DPM students will be participating in SAEBRS SEL screener on January 19th to 22nd in their World Language or Learning Strategies classes. Information on this SEL screening tool can be found here. Students will also participate in Fastbridge Reading and Math screenings on January 25th & January 26th.
MAP Growth Reports
DPM will be mailing home MAP student growth reports in January when the testing window closes.

SOAR is Open for Business!
The SOAR after school math support from 3:45 - 5:00 is off to a good start and is a great resource for students who need help with their math work. Find the link on the grade level Schoology page, at the top, under Quick Links. Students enter the meet link and will be assigned a tutor for the level of math they are working on. Students can pop in whenever they need help. If you have any questions, contact Laura Paull at lpaull@lfschools.net.
