Our thanks this week go to Cathy Mulrow-Peatty, Laurie Lane, Tricia Gallagher, Kim Swift and Carol Rooney of the Holiday Lunch Committee for celebrating the school staff with a festive luncheon and raffle. It was a wonderful way to thank our teachers and staff for all of their hard work. We would also like to thank Lori Olson and Susan Massey for all of the great work they have done this fall with the College and Career Center.
Congratulations on a successful fall season for our many amazing sports teams. And congratulations to all of the students who participated in our Winter Concerts both at DHS and throughout Fairfield County.

Thank you to all who have contributed to our annual fundraising appeal. We are about half way to our goal! If you would like to participate in helping us to support our students and teachers here is the link for PayPal. Purchases from our online Spirit Wear sale can be picked up in the Athletic Loop, Monday, Dec. 20th, 3-5 and Tuesday, Dec. 21, 10-12.

We wish all of our DHS families and staff a wonderful holiday and a very happy, healthy New Year!

Antoinette Cowles and Leila Buckjune, Co-Chairs, DHSPA

The DHS Administration, faculty and staff express their deep appreciation to the Darien High School Parents Association for providing a festive holiday luncheon on Friday. Thank you for your generosity and kindness! Best wishes to our DHS families for a happy and healthy holiday recess.

"How It Is" Program
The annual "How It Is" program for Seniors will take place on 12/23 during school hours. Alumni will return to share the wisdom they have learned since leaving DHS.

Application forms are available for 9th graders seeking to enroll in English 10 Honors and for 10th graders seeking to enroll in AP English Language and Composition 11. The application deadline is Friday, January 7th. Interested students should obtain a form from Mr. Janosco's office in the English department.

The History Honors process will open starting January 3rd (when we return from break). Teachers will share a Google Classroom code with their classes. Students who are interested in applying for honors level courses should join this classroom and complete the application (which will be in a Google Form). Additional information about the honors process can be found in the Google Classroom. The application is due by January 12th at 3:00pm. This application is for the following students:

  • Students currently taking Western Civ that want to take Honors World Studies next year
  • Students currently taking 300 World Studies that want to take AP US next year
  • Students currently taking 300 American History that want to take AP Law and Gov next year

Students applying for Honors World Studies and AP US History should plan to take an Honors Placement DBQ on make-up day at 10:30. Placement in an honors course is based on placement tests, semester grades, and teacher recommendations.

Students who are currently enrolled in an honors level course do not need to reapply. The following classes are open-enrollment AP’s and students wanting to take these courses do not need to apply for them: AP European History, AP Human Geography, AP Microeconomics, and AP Macroeconomics.

Please remind your student to pick up their photo orders from Mrs. Farren in the main office.

You can place an order by clicking HERE! Please remember to keep a copy of your order number. The Yearbook Club does not want anyone to go without a yearbook due to financial reasons. If you need assistance, please contact your school counselor.

CDSP Did You Know Series - #4
The Council of Darien School Parents (CDSP) is the umbrella organization for all Darien Public School PTOs. Did you know that CDSP has a Community Outreach Committee? Community Outreach supports various organizations in town including Music for Youth, the Darien Foundation and the Darien YWCA. Community Outreach also champions CDSP's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. This DEI component includes communication with the Administration, as well as monthly meetings with DEI Chairs from all schools to coordinate ideas related to enrichment for students and resources for parents, focused on promoting a welcoming and inclusive social and learning environment for all DPS students. Jennifer Sherman is the Community Outreach Chair for CDSP this year and can be reached at with any questions or comments.
