STUDENT COLLEGE PANEL DISCUSSION
Please join the DHSPA via Zoom on Tuesday, November 23 at 9:30am as a group of DHS Alumni share their experiences with the college application process, the transition to college, how DHS prepared them for college academically, and what they may have done differently during their high school years. Bring your questions and don't miss their valuable insight! Registration is required. Click HERE for the link.
TURKEY BOWL TICKET INFORMATION
Turkey Bowl 2021 will be held at Dunning Field in New Canaan on Thanksgiving morning, November 25th, and kickoff will be at 10am. New Canaan is limiting the number of spectators for the event, which will be shared by the two school communities. As the visiting team, Darien High School will receive a limited number of tickets. Although this is a community event, it belongs first to our students and to the student athletes who will compete and perform. The Darien Athletic Foundation’s exceptional live coverage will be a wonderful alternative for those who are not able to purchase tickets for the event due to limitations in seating. There will be no day of game ticket sales at the gate.
Thank you for your support as we celebrate our long standing tradition on Thanksgiving Day! We will post all information regarding game day on the school’s website. GO BLUE WAVE!
Turkey Bowl tickets are $10.00 and will be sold as follows:
- Football and cheerleader families will be contacted about priority ticket sales.
-
Each DHS student will be allowed to purchase 1 ticket online using GOFAN. The link can be found HERE and will be active at noon on Monday, November 15 until noon on Tuesday, November 16. Students will be required to enter Student ID (LASID #) numbers to process their ticket purchase All tickets are $10.00.
-
Remaining tickets will be sold to Darien residents (photo id with Darien address required) on Wednesday November 17 beginning at 9am at the Weed Beach Paddle Tennis Hut until all tickets are sold. There will be a 3 ticket maximum purchase.
- Please purchase a ticket only if you plan to attend. There are a limited number of tickets and there will be no tickets sold the day of the game.
BLUE WAVE COUNCIL MEETING
The next Blue Wave Council Parent/Member Forum is Wednesday, November 17th, 7pm-8pm in the DHS CHILL ZONE. The topic is "Teens and Money" with guest speakers. RSVP to Connections Counselor Joyce Sixsmith at jsixsmith@darienps.org if you and your teen would like to attend. The mission of Blue Wave Council is to promote substance free living/healthy decision making for DHS Teens.
THEATRE 308 PRODUCTION
Theatre 308 presents Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses, a modern interpretation of classic myths, featuring live music accompanying the storytelling. Performances will take place in the DHS Auditorium on Thursday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at theatre308.org.
FINANCIAL AID NIGHT
Please join us on Tuesday, November 30th at 7pm (via Zoom) for Financial Aid Night. Sage Stachowiak, Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at SCSU, will present. This program is most relevant for Juniors and Seniors but all families are welcome to attend. Please note that this program is about college financial aid processes and programs, including the FAFSA and CSS Profile. This is NOT a financial planning workshop. A zoom link will be sent closer to the date.
SAVE THE DATE
In partnership with Staples and New Canaan High Schools and with generous support from the DHSPA, author Jeff Selingo has been invited for a virtual conversation about the current college admissions landscape. The event will be held on December 2nd at 7pm. Jeff Selingo is a New York Times bestselling author of three books. His latest book, Who Gets In & Why: A Year Inside College Admissions, (2020) was named among the 100 Notable Books of the year by the New York Times. While this event is most relevant to Juniors, the webinar link will be sent to all families on the day of the event.
SENIOR PORTRAIT SELECTION DEADLINE
The final deadline for senior portrait selection is December 15th. If you do not make a selection, the photo studio staff will make a selection using their professional judgement on the best photo. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Hernandez at rhernandez@darienps.org.
