NEWS AND CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Theatre 308's production of Metamorphoses. It was a wonderful performance, with outstanding music and a set to be remembered. If you have not yet had a chance to read Volume 1 of "DHS Happenings", please take some time to check it out. It's a great glimpse into the many things happening in and around the classroom at our amazing school. Last but not least, this week the Darien High School Parents' Association will be launching our 2021 Direct Appeal. This will be our main fundraiser of the year and we look forward to your support. Please be on the lookout for more information in your inboxes and through the DHSPA social media.

We wish you a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with your family and friends

Antoinette Cowles and Leila Buckjune, DHSPA Co-Chairs

DHS BAND'S TURKEY DRIVE - NOV 23
The DHS Band will hold its annual turkey drive this Tuesday, Nov 23 from 7:00 - 7:40am during morning drop-off in the bus loop. Fresh and frozen turkeys, as well as sides, will be collected by band members, and donors do not need to get out of their cars! The DHS Band's goal is to collect 100 turkeys for the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Please consider a donation to help families in need!

STUDENT COLLEGE PANEL DISCUSSION
Please join the DHSPA via Zoom on Tuesday, November 23 at 9:30am as a group of DHS Alumni share their experiences with the college application process, the transition to college, how DHS prepared them for college academically, and what they may have done differently during their high school years. Bring your questions and don't miss their valuable insight! Registration is required. Click HERE for the link.

DHSPA SPIRIT WEAR ONLINE HOLIDAY SALE
Don’t miss out on your favorite DHS styles as well as stocking stuffers! The Spirit Wear Store will be online for your shopping convenience.  From cozy flannel blue & white plaid PJ bottoms to Blue Wave cups and pens and cozy sweatshirts- we’ve got it all this year!  The sale runs November 29th through December 10th. Order early for the best selection and sizes! Look for the link in the November 29 DPN.

FINANCIAL AID NIGHT
Please join us on Tuesday, November 30th at 7pm (via Zoom) for Financial Aid Night. Sage Stachowiak, Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at SCSU, will present. This program is most relevant for Juniors and Seniors but all families are welcome to attend. Please note that this program is about college financial aid processes and programs, including the FAFSA and CSS Profile. This is NOT a financial planning workshop. A zoom link will be sent closer to the date.

SAVE THE DATE
In partnership with Staples and New Canaan High Schools and with generous support from the DHSPA, author Jeff Selingo has been invited for a virtual conversation about the current college admissions landscape. The event will be held on December 2nd at 7pm. Jeff Selingo is a New York Times bestselling author of three books. His latest book, Who Gets In & Why: A Year Inside College Admissions, (2020) was named among the 100 Notable Books of the year by the New York Times. While this event is most relevant to Juniors, the webinar link will be sent to all families on the day of the event.

CDSP - DID YOU KNOW? Series #1
Have you heard of CDSP but aren't sure what it is? The Council of Darien School Parents (CDSP) is the umbrella organization for the Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) of all Darien Public Schools. PTO Chairs and CDSP Reps from all five elementary schools, MMS and DHS attend CDSP meetings to share school-specific information. Attendees also learn about district-wide PTO information and activities (like last year's #showingdpsstaffthelove campaign) from the CDSP Executive Board. The PTO's then share all relevant district-wide and school-specific information with parents through PTO meetings and newsletters. Please visit cdspdarien.org for more information and follow us on Facebook @DarienCDSP / Instagram @CDSP_Darien.

SENIOR PORTRAIT SELECTION DEADLINE
The final deadline for senior portrait selection is December 15th. If you do not make a selection, the photo studio staff will make a selection using their professional judgement on the best photo. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Hernandez at rhernandez@darienps.org.
