 DPNM Announces Pre-Primary Convention Results

Albuquerque- Today, the Democratic Party of New Mexico announced voting results of the 2026 Pre-Primary Convention. The convention was held Saturday, March 7th, at the Inn of the Mountain Gods at Mescalero Apache Nation.

Voting was conducted by electronic ballot upon adjournment of the Convention, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday at 9:00pm. There were 1064 delegates able to vote for statewide candidates in this convention election, including roughly 500 State Central Committee (SCC) members who are automatic delegates. The non-SCC delegates were elected at the county level in January and February.

Candidates who did not receive at least 20% of the vote are still able to qualify for the Democratic primary ballot by submitting additional petition signatures. In addition to ballot qualification, the Pre-Primary Convention vote also determines ballot placement.

DPNM Chair Sara Attleson released the following statement about the 2026 DPNM Pre-Primary Convention:

"At our Pre-Primary Convention, hundreds of Democrats made it clear - we're committed to working together as a Party for a bright future where all New Mexican can thrive. New Mexico Democrats are blessed to have so many capable candidates and elected officials who put New Mexicans first, and so many motivated supporters willing to roll up their sleeves to get them elected.

"As Republicans continue to let the country down with an absence of morals and inexcusable ineptitude, Democrats are heading into the upcoming elections ready to confront MAGA failures head on, with our plans to make day-to-day life more affordable, expand access to healthcare, and create a more equitable future for generations to come. Thank you to the candidates, the Inn of the Mountain Gods, the Mescalero Apache Nation, and everyone who participated in-person and virtually.

"By all accounts, our Convention was energetic and successful, and we invite every new Mexican to join us as we continue building our movement to hold the GOP accountable."
