Hello Fellow Democrats,
Expanded Early Voting has begun, with the addition of the Moriarty Civic Center in Moriarty open for voting from 10 AM to 6 PM, Tuesdays thru Saturdays, in addition to voting at the Torrance County Administration Building (205 S. 9th St., Estancia) from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Mondays thru Thursdays. We’re expecting my race for County Commissioner in District 2 and Albert Chavez’s race in District 1 to be extremely close. Geno Jones’ bid for County Assessor county-wide very well might also be close.
We need for EVERY Democrat in Torrance County to make their voices heard by voting, and also need for Declined to State (independents) and a significant number of Republicans to vote for myself, Albert and Geno if we’re going to have a chance to move Torrance County forward! Even though it’s hoped that the “Trump Effect” will cause some Republicans to just stay home this election cycle, in my race we estimate that we’ll need the votes of about 150 Republicans, in addition to ALL the Democrats and D-leaning independents, in order for me to win. I think that I’ve got commitments from 70 to 75 Republicans, but we need far more than that to turn this seat blue.
Please tell all your friends and neighbors, including Republicans and DTSs, to go vote and to “vote blue”, at least in the local races where party affiliation really shouldn’t matter.
STAND UP, PUSH BACK! CONTINUE THE FIGHT!
Bill

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
By Bill Peifer
Our “Trump Lie” for this week is a very simple little 12-word lie. On Friday he posted on Untruth Social:
They will all go to jail for a long period of time!!!
That was posted along with an image of a post that someone named Matt Finn made on Elon Musk’s X platform. Finn’s post was as follows:
NEW: In a new letter to LA County, the DOJ warns that if the County allows ballot processors to tabulate the votes of alleged non-citizens, they are opening themself [sic] to federal criminal prosecution.
Well, Matt Finn, who’s a “correspondent” for the FAUX News entertainment network, didn’t exactly lie, since LA County did receive a copy of the letter that the DOJ sent to the state of California demanding that they remove non-citizens from their voter rolls. The threat was on a handwritten note that accompanied the copy of the letter sent to Sacramento along with a password-protected flash drive. LA County hasn’t even opened the flash drive yet, so they don’t know exactly what’s on it, but the CA Secretary of State’s office says that they were only provided with a list of names, without any other identifying information necessary to act, like addresses, SSANs or driver’s license numbers.
So, what they have is a list of names of people that Homeland Security has identified as “likely” undocumented immigrants. Hypothetically, let’s suppose that the name Juan Gonzales appears on that list. There could be thousands of people in California, hundreds just in LA County, named “Juan Gonzales”. Trump and his DOJ are demanding that California strip ALL the people with that name of their right to vote, and threatening state and county officials with “jail for a long period of time” if they don’t comply. Multiply that issue by, potentially, hundreds of common Hispanic names, and you can see the possible impact at this attempt at voter suppression.
Previously, the administration claimed Nevada had 1,500 noncitizen voters on its voter rolls, but after the federal government fully identified them to the state, the number of actual registered noncitizens turned out to be ZERO! So, Trump’s lie this week is that hundreds of election officials in California “will all go to jail for a long period of time”. More empty threats from the Bully in Chief.
