Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter  November 13, 2023

Happy Monday Democrats and friends!

On Saturday we held our last 2nd Saturday General Meeting of the DPTC of the year at the Shaffer Hotel in Mountainair. It was a very informative meeting, with special guests Representative Pamelya Herndon (D-HD28) and Claudia Risner, Chair of the Veterans and Military Families Caucus. For those who were unable to make it, you missed a good one!

Looking ahead to future months, we will not be having meetings in December or January. The weather in those months make it difficult to plan, plus people often have other important items on their personal agendas. But be prepared for a busy couple of months from February on. We will have our next General Meeting on February 10, 2024, where we will be discussing, among other things, the upcoming County Convention, State Pre-Primary Convention and, of course, the 2024 election.

We can expect the Presidential election will take center stage in 2024, but there will be multiple races of a more local nature that everyone should be thinking about. All legislative districts (New Mexico House of Representatives and New Mexico Senate) will be on the ballot, as well as Torrance County Commissioner for District 3, County Clerk, County Treasurer and other local offices on the 2024 ballot.

Details of our County Convention (likely sometime in March) are still TBD, but now is the time to start thinking about running for public office or to be a delegate. Keep reading the Blue Beacon over the next couple of months to be in the know as to how to get involved. There is no time like the present to get ready to STAND UP, PUSH BACK AND VOTE!
