Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter  November 6, 2023

Happy Monday Democrats and friends!

Tomorrow is election day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. If you need help finding a polling location, please see the links below. Local elections are where your voice has the most impact.

We finally have a Speaker of the House of Representatives in Washington. Unfortunately, instead of forwarding a moderate, House Republicans chose to go from bad (McCarthy) to worse (Mike Johnson). Johnson is a hard-core MAGA acolyte from western Louisiana. The New York Times report that about three-quarters of the arguments that Republican lawmakers used to justify their attempts to overturn the 2020 election relied on arguments advanced by Johnson. Johnson opposes abortion rights and has gone so far as to sponsor a bill to declare that life begins at fertilization. His commingling of church and state in his beliefs is frightening. When I say from bad to worse, I mean it.

On another front, the former treasonous President testifies under oath in downtown Manhattan today in his civil fraud trial. It will be entertainment at its best. Too bad there are no cameras in the courtroom. Let’s see what direction this goes. The prosecution still must prove that there was detrimental reliance on his fraudulent financial statements, even though the judge has found that he, his sons, and his organization committed fraud on multiple occasions.

Stay tuned for the next episode of As the MAGA World Turns.

STAND UP! PUSH BACK! VOTE! And Remember all of our Veterans and thank them for their service!!!
