Good morning, fellow Antifa members!
We have now entered the second month of the Trump government shutdown. While a judge has ordered Trump to reinstate funding for SNAP, we all know how much Trump pays attention to courts and court orders, so that’s up in the air. In response to the urgent need, Governor Lujan Grisham has provided $30 million in state funds to try to keep New Mexicans from starving while some restaurants in the city are trying to help by providing free meals to kids. Meanwhile, area food banks are bracing for an onslaught of people in need. In Torrance County, that mostly means the Bethel Storehouse.
The DPTC is doing what we can. We have placed a tote in our office, and one in Myra’s real estate office, for people to drop off non-perishable food items which we will be taking to Bethel, including whatever you are able to bring to next Saturday’s meeting at the office. But we know that Bethel will need far more than what we can get dropped off in our totes. So, now the big news:
A generous benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted us and has pledged to match monetary donations to Bethel made through the DPTC up to $400/month while this emergency lasts. You can drop off checks (made out to the Democratic Party of Torrance County with “Bethel” in the memo field) at our office or mail them to us at PO Box 2206, Moriarty 87035, but the really easy way to donate is to go to a special ActBlue donation page that we’ve set up just for this effort. Either way, your donation will be matched by our “angel” and every donation we get will go to Bethel to help those in need. Here’s the URL for that donation page:

Donations made through that special page will NOT be used to fund party activities. Every dollar that we get, and every dollar that gets matched, will go to Bethel*. TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
Note: This is a new weekly feature of the Blue Beacon. Each edition we’ll point out one lie by Trump and the Republicans and arm our readers with a brief piece of reality so that they can engage MAGA Republicans in conversation with the TRUTH on their side.
In a recent social media post, Trump wrote “After winning THREE Elections, BY A LOT, I am now getting the best Polling Numbers that I have ever received. People see how strong the Economy is, the Trillions of Dollars of Investment pouring into our Country, the Record Setting Strong Border (After years of millions of criminals pouring through it, totally unvetted and unchecked!), ending 8 wars in eight months, no men playing in women’s sports, no transgender for everyone, rapidly falling Energy prices, and much more!"
Now, it’s pretty obvious that there are at least eight or nine blatant lies in that post, and we can’t address all of them in this short article, so this week we’ll focus on the second lie . . . the claim by Trump that he’s getting “the best Polling Numbers” that he’s ever received, a claim that he recently doubled down on by claiming in another post that he’s getting the best polling numbers of any president in history. While it’s possible that he’s personally polling his own family, staff and cabinet members, which might get him some seemingly positive numbers, none of the reputable polling companies would agree. For instance:
- The Reuters/Ipsos survey, conducted from September 19-21, gives Trump a 41% approval with 58% disapproving.
- The latest Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos survey conducted from September 11-15 gives him a 43% approval rating with 56% disapproving.
- The most recent American Research Group poll indicates that 37% of the country approves of Trump’s performance with a 58% disapproval rating.
- The Verasight/Strength in Numbers survey shows 34% approval and 63% disapproval.
- The Economist/YouGov poll from October 24-27 gives Trump a 39% approval rating with 58% disapproving.
Either Trump is completely delusional and actually believes that the people approve of his performance, or he is simply trying to make people believe him instead of themselves in order to claim political capital that he really doesn’t deserve. Maybe it’s a combination of the two. But when your MAGA neighbor tries to tell you that the country loves what Trump is doing, you now have some real numbers to counteract the GOP’s spin.
