Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter

November 4, 2024

Good Morning Fellow Democrats!

This will be the final time, (this election cycle), that I’ll get on the soapbox. I know if you’re reading this you already agree with most if not all of what I am saying.

On the one hand, we have a political party which touts candidates who only spout negativity and darkness – which despite opportunities to do so has never tackled the tough, sticky issues that have been present for decades – instead preferring to kick them down the road so they can be used for future political propaganda. They provide us with a presidential candidate that has spewed fear and hatred into our society for over a decade. A candidate who denigrates our country in every speech he makes – calls the country a garbage can – says we will go down the tubes – argues, in the face of clear facts otherwise, that the economy is horrible and that the world laughs at us, when, in fact, if you listen to the citizenry of countries other than Russia, North Korea, China and Iran, the United States is admired and held in the greatest esteem for the way we have recovered from the worst pandemic of our lifetimes. A candidate that will once again waste time and energy attacking the Affordable Care Act and health care for millions of Americans. Not to worry though, he has “the concept of a plan”. A candidate who will focus on retribution and retaliation as opposed to addressing issues.

They provide us with a Senatorial candidate who hasn’t lived in our state for over fifty years, but feels she has the privilege of coming back and telling us how terrible everything is about our state. Perhaps she should have stayed in Connecticut where she could continue to rake in millions while selling us down the river to China. Ask her what she has contributed to her home state in the fifty plus years she has been gone. The answer is nothing, but she has the audacity to come here and offer nothing but criticism.

They provide us with a retread Congressional candidate who served two years in Congress and failed to introduce or pass one bill meaningful to assist the people of New Mexico. Instead, she applauds the Dobbs’ decision – although she now tries to disavow her own recorded words – taking away the rights of over half of our population to make their own health care decisions. She spent her entire two years in Congress fighting health insurance for thousands of New Mexicans and doing absolutely nothing to address outdated, ineffective immigration laws.

And they provide us with two other Congressional candidates who have not advanced one single idea of how to improve our lot – but have managed to criticize every accomplishment we have made over the past four years.

On the other hand, we have a Democratic presidential candidate who has been in the trenches – who assisted President Biden in turning around a collapsing economy brought on largely by the pandemic. An administration that has accomplished the withdrawal of our troops from a twenty-year war brought on by a previous Republican administration and, like every other controversial issue, ignored by Republican politicians. We have a candidate who assisted the Senate in passing a bi-partisan bill to address the crisis at the border, which was shot down by the current Republican candidate so he could maintain a campaign issue. We have a candidate who has lowered the cost of life-saving drugs; who offers action and answers; and who has brought us back into the position of esteem that our country has held throughout the world until the current Republican candidate destroyed it with his clown act.

We have an incumbent Senator and Congressman and woman, who have worked diligently and successfully in providing industry, including clean energy investment, into our state. New Mexicans who have the admiration of their fellow senators and congresswomen/men and who appreciate the beauty and aura of our tricultural state.

The choices are clear. Darkness vs. Light. Negativity vs. Action and Progress. Fear and Hate vs. Hope and Joy.

We’re not going back!! Let’s run through the tape because when We Fight, We Win!

STAND UP! PUSH BACK! VOTE!
