Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter
April 6, 2026
| | |
Hello Fellow Democrats and ANTIFA followers,
With all the noise coming from Washington, especially from Donald Trump, with his attempts to end birthright citizenship, do away with absentee ballots and the latest news about his “excursion” in Iran, it’s easy to lose sight of the picture closer to home. Let’s face it. There’s little, if anything, that we in Torrance County can do about the spoiled child in Washington who’s working hard to run our country completely into the into the ground or the sycophants that he surrounds himself with. We need to leave that to Representative Stansbury and Senators Heinrich and Luján. But there are some things that we can do about the situation here in our county, and that’s what this month’s “Second Saturday Meeting” is all about.
If you’re able to join us this coming Saturday at 2 PM at the office, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and hear from some, and possibly all three of our party’s candidates for public office in Torrance County this November. Hugh “Geno” Jones is running for County Assessor; Albert Chavez is running for the County Commissioner position in Commission District 1 and I’m running for the County Commissioner position in Commission District 2. This is the largest number of Democrats to appear on a ballot for county positions in quite a few years, and the current political climate is conducive to Democrats winning from the top of the ballot all the way to the bottom.
Although we (the candidates) want to convey our campaign message to you and ask you to volunteer and donate, we also want to hear your thoughts on Torrance County’s direction because, if we win, you’re the citizens that we’ll be representing in Estancia.
Please join us! Working together we can move Torrance County forward!
Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
By Bill Peifer
On Sunday morning, Donald Trump posted the following on his UntruthSocial platform.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F**kin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP”
This week’s featured lie occurs just prior to Trump’s disgusting profanity where he claims that “There will be nothing like it!!!” because there actually is something very similar to it that has been going on for over four years now. I’m referring to Russia’s targeting of Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, taking out power plants, hospitals and schools in violation of International Law.
Trump is apparently going to exactly copy Putin’s strategy of intentionally going after Iran’s power plants, hospitals and schools, hoping to inflict pain on the civilian population in an effort to get them to overthrow their government. Put bluntly, what Putin has been doing, and what Trump is promising to do starting Tuesday, are exactly the same thing, and those actions qualify as “War Crimes”.
