Hello Fellow Democrats,
I hope everyone had a good 3-day weekend. I enjoyed it to the fullest, getting some things done that I have not had time to do and getting to sleep a little later than usual.
The 4th of July Parade in Moriarty was a big success with lots of folks turning out and as always, there was big participation from the community. Moriarty people love parades; they always have. I have lived in this community for 49 years and I do not recall a parade that was ever poorly attended. Ronnie Ray’s donkeys were well received by the crowd with some people saying they were glad to see the Dems present. Torrance County being a red area, others were not so enthusiastic. We got a few thumbs down and several derogatory remarks, but to the best of my knowledge, we did not get the middle finger and were not spit on, which is an improvement from some events we have attended in this county.
I am told there is another nationwide demonstration on July 17th at Ross Park in Albuquerque. There has not been much information released yet, but I feel sure we will be notified in the coming days. Some of you have expressed interest in doing a local demonstration either at Crossley Park in Moriarty or in the parking lot at Moriarty Foods. I would very much like to hear from you regarding your willingness to participate and show up and if you think this is a good idea. Please email your thoughts – chair@tcdp-nm.org.
Now that the House and Senate have approved the Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) and Donnie signed it on July 4th, what happens next? I am not sure, but I do know that ICE activity is going to increase significantly, and that detention facilities are to be constructed across America to house immigrants. Alligator Alcatraz in Florida has recently been completed and will be open soon. I am shocked that this is where we are today! Is this who America is, are we now a nation of racist who seem to enjoy inflecting pain and suffering on brown and black skinned people? This truly rips my guts out and breaks my heart. I do not know how we can stop this. Now that the BBB is law, can we even come close to stopping it? I suppose we will find out in due time. All we can do is keep showing up, keep making our voices heard. We still have the right to demonstrate. WE CANNOT GIVE UP NOW, GOD HELP US!
Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

Help Wanted!
We are planning for the annual Old Timers' Day event in Estancia on July 26th. We are planning on participating in the parade this year, and will have booth space in the park and will be, once again, giving away backpacks to school children. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the booth in three shifts: Set-up (9 AM to Noon); Lunch (11 AM to 2 PM); and Takedown (2 PM to 5 PM). Contact Millie if you can help!

The "BLUE DOT CREW"
The Blue Dot Crew are Democrats who wear a little blue button! "A blue dot in a sea of red dots!" We, in Torrance County, can feel outnumbered and overwhelmed. We are a blue dot in a red county and will be heard. We will be at the three events this summer handing out blue dot buttons to any Democrat who wants one. They can then add their blue dot to the large Torrance County map. It will be our way to identify other Democrats when you feel alone.
