Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter

October 5, 2026

Hello Fellow Democrats,

Early Voting begins TOMORROW at the County Clerk’s Office in Estancia and expands to include the Moriarty Civic Center in just 12 days! In the graphics below, Millie has provided you with all the information that you’re likely going to need to figure out where and when to vote. While voting is the culmination of the election season, there’s a lot more going on right now than just voting. There are still campaign events going on right up until Election Day, and there will always be a big “Get Out The Vote” effort by campaigns and the parties.

Hope to see you all this Saturday at the Meet & Greet/ Birthday Bash!

STAND UP, PUSH BACK AND LET’S DO THIS TOGETHER!

Show up! Vote Blue!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!

Refute the Republican Rhetoric

By Bill Peifer

This week I have two lies by Donald Trump that I feel need brief refutation. The first lie he told on Untruth Social on Saturday, when he posted:

Greg Cunningham has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next U.S. Representative from New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Although Cunningham is running to unseat Gabe Vasquez in CD2, which does not include any part of Torrance County, some of you might have friends in the southern part of the state, and they deserve to know that Greg Cunningham has already let New Mexicans down. His first TV ad, promoting himself as a law-and-order ex-cop, takes place in a barber shop, where his regular barber is cutting the hair and beard of another Cunningham supporter. That other supporter is none other than Raymond De La Cruz, who pleaded guilty in 2001 to two charges of cocaine trafficking. You can judge a man by the company he keeps. In this case, his friend “Ray” is exactly the sort of person Cunningham is promising to get removed from New Mexico’s general population.

The second lie is broader in its scope. On Thursday, Trump posted:

Prices are way down from what Biden and the Dumocrats left us. It’s why I won the Election, and now prices are coming down, RAPIDLY. It’s the Dumocrats’ fault, not the fault of the Republicans — But we are fixing it! President DONALD J. TRUMP

This one is REALLY easy to refute! Numbers just don’t lie as well as Trump! The Consumer Price Index for January of 2025, when Biden turned over the reins of government to Trump, was at 311.172. The last calculation of the CPI was in August, when it came in at 328.481. That’s not “coming down” at all, much less coming down “rapidly”. It’s a 5.56% INCREASE!

In fact, except for a brief 3-month period about this time last year when it dropped from 318.139 in September to 317.014 in December, the CPI has gone up every single month while Trump has been in office! Prices are NOT “way down” from Biden’s numbers, and rest assured that Republicans are NOT “fixing it”!
