Hello Fellow Democrats,
On Saturday Myra, Millie, Kathy Evans, Augie Montoya, Geno Jones, and I staffed our booth at Mountainair’s Sunflower Festival. It was hot. TERRIBLY hot, but it was a very productive day. We passed out a good number of candidate yard signs and quite a few Pocket Constitutions. In fact, several people from the Republican Party of Torrance County’s booth came over and got Pocket Constitutions, including their candidate for the U.S. Senate, Larry Marker. I found it somewhat encouraging that Republicans, including a U.S. Senate candidate, are suddenly willing to read that fine 237-year-old document. There made be hope for some of them, yet.
From my personal perspective as a candidate, I found it interesting that Republicans began the day with two of my opponent’s yard signs fully on display, front and center. But not long after we showed up and set up our booth, Mr. Holt’s signs got moved to the back of their booth, completely out of sight unless you were looking for them. The Republicans continued to display signs supporting their other candidates, but not for TJ Holt.
Perhaps they’re a little bit embarrassed by Holt, since just a day or two before he had posted a link on Facebook, asking people to take a survey that he had set up on Google. He’s trying to figure out what issues people in Torrance County might have. In other words, five months AFTER declaring that he’s a candidate, and five weeks before early voting begins, he’s finally asking the questions that a responsible candidate would have started asking months ago, and I’ve been asking for the past several years. Perhaps he’s beginning to think that his personal connections through his church and his Little League activities might not be enough to carry him through the General Election. We can hope!
We also talked to several people who might be willing to take a shift in the office, which would be great since it would free me up for a lot of the campaign-related activities that are starting to eat up my time. If anyone else wants to volunteer, contact Millie, since it would be nice to get that office staffed every afternoon as we lead up to the elections in November!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric

On Sunday, Trump posted a 295-word single-paragraph rant. For brevity’s sake, I wont repost the whole thing here. Just a few excerpts. First, there’s this opening:
“Kristen Welker, the Unpopular “Hostess” of the once great Meet the Press, now considered Meet the Fake Press, just stated that Donald Trump has “mixed results” on his Endorsements of Candidates”
NBC's Meet the Press with Kristen Welker continues to rank #1 in the coveted 25-54 adult demographic among Sunday morning public affairs programs, so calling Welker “unpopular” is clearly a lie, and the only person who might refer to the program as “Meet the Fake Press” is Donald Trump, himself. Then Trump goes on to talk about how successful the candidates that he’s endorsed have been, as if they’re winning their primaries all because of his endorsement of them. He claims that 100% of those that he endorsed for the Senate and 98% of those for the House have won their primaries. That much is true. Of course, over 90% of those Trump-endorsed candidates were unopposed in their primaries, or had ridiculously week opposition, so a Republican candidate who’s unopposed or virtually unopposed in their primary would likely win, whether they had Trump’s blessing or not. And Trump’s record for gubernatorial endorsements within his own party is a dismal 79%. But the lie comes in when he addresses the fact that Ms. Welker called his glorious endorsement achievements “mixed results”.
“Because of this purposeful inaccuracy, she will be reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment.
First of all, Trump’s implication was that she made her comment during her broadcast of Meet the Press, but it was actually during a pre-broadcast live shot on WRC-TV, NBC’s local station in Washington D.C. Secondly, he implied for at least the hundredth time that the FCC has control over the networks. They do not! The FCC licenses local stations to operate “in the interests of their communities” but has no authority over the networks and their feeds.
The rant goes on and on, ripping into other networks and members of the press, threatening to sic the FCC on anyone who doesn’t praise his every word and action. When will the threats and lies stop? Not until long after he leaves office.

During the Primary Election, Myra Oden worked as a poll worker at the Moriarty Civic Center. For the General Election, we need to free Myra up to be our party's representative for Election Integrity, traveling to ALL the polling locations, so we need to find another person to work the polls on election day. This is a paid position (paid by the state) and the County Clerk's office will provide all the training that you need.
