Good Morning Fellow Democrats:
Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is well and getting into the holiday spirit. I know it's hard knowing what is in front of us, but we must forge on for the welfare of our children and grandchildren.
The holiday season brings us closer to our state's legislative session. This year's session begins on January 21st and ends on March 22nd. Proposed legislation can be pre-filed as early as January 2nd. The deadline for filing proposed legislation is February 20th.
We are fortunate to be represented in the legislature by two outstanding Democratic individuals. Senator Liz Stefanics chairs the Senate Conservation Committee and serves on the Rules Committee and Rep. Matthew McQueen chairs the House Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee and serves on the House Judiciary Committee.
Liz also serves on the interim committee for water & natural resources and health and human services. She has been a strong advocate for rural New Mexico and has worked tirelessly for Torrance County to protect and preserve our water resources and agricultural community. Matthew is a conservation attorney. He has continuously worked to protect and preserve our farming and ranching communities. He was instrumental in bringing N.M. Oil & Gas royalties into line with those of surrounding states generating millions of dollars for our public schools. He has been a strong advocate for Torrance County in the legislature.
