Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter

July 21, 2025

Hello Fellow Democrats,

Here we are at the 6-month mark of the Trump regium. Really, it’s only been 6 months, why does it feel like it has been years? It feels more like 2 or 3 years of constant hammering, constant belittlement of somebody, constant threats of one kind or another. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand to hear DJT’s voice, just the sound of his voice puts me into an irritated state of mind. And it’s not just him, it’s Pam Bodi, Caroline Leavitt, and Mike Johnson, all of them, it is all of them. The stuff that comes out of those people’s mouths is truly astonishing and most of it is nothing but straight up lies and more lies. Then there is the whole Jeffery Epstein thing!!! What does one say about a President of the USA that is clearly a child molester. Convicted felon, rapist and now a child molester.

Last week, Bill Peifer talked about where do we draw the line, what is your line in the sand? Folks, if this is not it, then God help you. My line in the sand was quite some time ago when Donnie said, “Just grab ‘um by the p***y.” That was it for me, and I naively thought that it was the end of it for DJT, that this country would not stand for that kind of talk from a potential President of the USA. Boy was I ever wrong! It was shocking to see what this country will tolerate. The man has brought me to tears more times than I can count. The tears started flowing the night Hillary Clinton was defeated.

Is the Jeffery Epstein thing going to be the line in the sand for Republicans? It appears that it is for some of them, but congress voted not to release the files, they are still covering up for him, they are still enabling him, they are still believing in him. What a mess, what a freaking mess this one man has made of our country! All we can do is keep protesting, keep registering people to vote, keep showing up in the community, keep being brave. We must be brave and sometimes that is hard, sometimes it is very hard for me to be brave.

We have another opportunity to show up in our community and be brave – Saturday, July 26th, Old Timer’s Day in Estancia. Details are below. Come walk in the parade with us or volunteer to work at the booth. We need all the help we can get.

I have had some positive feedback about doing a weekly lunchtime protest, possibly on Route 66 in front of the DPTC office, just for an hour on a designated day. If you can make time for that, please let me know, two of us are committed, more of you would be great.

Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

Parade Walkers Needed

We are planning for the annual Old Timers' Day event in Estancia on July 26th. We are planning on participating in the parade this year, and will have booth space in the park and will be, once again, giving away backpacks to school children. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the booth in three shifts: Set-up (9 AM to Noon); Lunch (11 AM to 2 PM); and Takedown (2 PM to 5 PM). Contact Millie if you can help!

The "BLUE DOT CREW"

The Blue Dot Crew are Democrats who wear a little blue button! "A blue dot in a sea of red dots!" We, in Torrance County, can feel outnumbered and overwhelmed. We are a blue dot in a red county and will be heard. We will be at the three events this summer handing out blue dot buttons to any Democrat who wants one. They can then add their blue dot to the large Torrance County map. It will be our way to identify other Democrats when you feel alone.
