Hello Fellow Democrats and ANTIFA followers,
This is IT!
After months of planning and preparation, our first ever “Denim & Diamonds” dinner and dance is only six days away! We’re excited to host campaigns, candidate, elected officials and just plain good Democrats from all over, for what is planned to be a fun evening of great Mexican food, equally great music, dancing and conversations on Sunday at the Moriarty Civic Center from 4 to 8 PM.
If you haven’t purchased tickets yet, there’s still time. Just go here to order yours and we’ll add you to the list. NM Senator Liz Stefanics will be our Mistress of Ceremonies with Lt. Governor Howie Morales will be our keynote speaker. We have a local trio of musicians (from Tijeras and Cedar Crest) providing the musical entertainment, so put on your blue jeans and diamond (or rhinestone) baubles and be prepared to have fun.
In addition to the fun stuff, it’s a great opportunity to chat with candidates and elected officials in a casual setting, and it’s all for a good cause, since proceeds will go towards our efforts to turn Torrance County BLUE, as well as helping some of our local folks.
Hope to see you there!
Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
By Bill Peifer
On Sunday evening Trump posted a long (334 words) rant about Pope Leo. Most of it is mindless and nonsensical, criticizing the leader of the Catholic Church for many things, but the lie is a fairly simple claim. Since Trump has a burning need to make everything about himself, he commented that Pope Leo “was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.”
I’m not a Catholic and am certainly no expert on the politics of the College of Cardinals, but I do know that they vote for a new Pope by secret ballot, and that it takes a supermajority to select the new pontiff. That means of the 133 cardinals from around the world who voted four times over two days, at least 89 voted for Pope Leo on that fourth ballot.
That almost certainly does NOT represent a conspiracy of Catholic leaders to find “the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.” The man’s ego knows no bounds! Perhaps he’s just jealous because Leo got at least 67% of the vote and the best that Trump has ever gotten in an election is 49.8%.
