Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter  October 30, 2023

Good Morning Fellow Blue Team:

Eight days until election day. Local elections are extremely important in these times. Please vote. If you want to talk about the candidates, feel free to give me a call. In Mountainair, call or email Peter Nieto – In Estancia, call or email Morrow Hall- In Moriarty, Mike Anaya is always helpful. Grass roots politics and values are at the core of the direction of our state and country. Issues like abortion, books in schools, curriculums, and yes, common sense gun regulations begin at the local level. We, as voters, have the most say at the local level. But only if we vote.

On the national level, the circus of the red team continues. I see more of the presidential candidates dropping out in the near future. The Republicans seem dead set to nominate the former President again irrespective of his many controversies and, in my opinion, treasonous acts. We’ll see what the next months bring, but it sure looks like he will be their candidate.

I wish you all a great week.  I thank all of our country’s great Veterans and look forward to honoring them on the upcoming Veterans Day.

Stand Up! Push Back! Vote!

Dennis

DPTC Chair

When we meet in Mountainair of November 11th, for our monthly Second Saturday Meeting, our special guest for that meeting’s Lunch with a Leader will be Representative Pamelya Herndon (D-HD28). Representative Herndon is the author, and original sponsor, of 2023’s HB9, commonly known as the Bennie Hargrove Gun Safety Act or simply as “Bennie’s Bill”. Contrary to what some Republican legislators contend, Bennie’s Bill is NOT an attempt to take people’s firearms away from them and is NOT contrary to the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. What it does do, quite simply, is require gun owners to take reasonable steps to secure their weapons.

Whether you are a gun control activist, a gun rights advocate or anything in between, you should make every effort to attend our 11/11 meeting to hear Representative Herndon explain the new law and how it relates to the 2nd Amendment.
