Democratic Party of Torrance County Newsletter

October 27, 2025

Hello Fellow Democrats and Antifa Thinkers,

Once again it has been a week beyond belief with the east wing of the White House being demolished, DJT bailing out billionaires, the GOP still refusing to negotiate to get the government open. Mike Johnson, speaker of the house, is still missing in action, DJT is moving massive amounts of armed forces into the Caribbean, and threatening Venezuela with war. He is violating the Constitution and breaking laws every single day of the week. The list just goes on and on and on.

It is now very clear to all of us that DJT does not care what laws he breaks and is concerned about nothing but himself and his family and friends. His only goal is to screw the American public and do anything he can think of to enrich himself and his family. Sadly, there is no one there to stop him. The GOP is scared to death of him and the Democrats are powerless. How long will this catastrophe continue, how long will the GOP and the Supreme Court allow him to pilfer the coffers of this nation? Even more disturbing is the estimation of how long it may take to repair the damage he has done. I have heard estimates of 10 years or more. Authoritarianism is alive and well in the US of A!

Millions of people are going to lose their SNAP benefits this week. To help ease the pain of that loss, I would like each of you to bring non-perishable food items to our next meeting on November 15th. I will personally see to it that your donations are delivered to the Bethel Storehouse in Moriarty. They in turn will distribute to Torrance County families in need. In fact, I would like to make this a regular thing at every one of our meetings. Please donate what you can and as much as you are comfortable with donating. I firmly believe it is our job as Democrats to pick up the slack and do what we can for our community. We do this because DEMOCRATS CARE!

Please note that the next meeting will be held at the DPTC office in Moriarty. We thought this would be a good opportunity for those of you that have not been to the office to get a tour, see where we work and learn more about how we function. This office gives us a presence in Torrance County, a big presence that says, “Hey, people, Democrats are here, and we are alive and well.” We are so very blessed to have this space, it is high time we showed it off. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you on November 15th, oh and bring a friend!

Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

P.S. A week and a half ago the Quad-County Dems sent out a survey trying to gauge the opinions of Democrats East of the Mountains. They will be sending it out again this week to try and get more feedback. Please watch for it and check your spam folders.

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!

Refute the Republican Rhetoric

Note: This is a new weekly feature of the Blue Beacon. Each edition we’ll point out one lie by Trump and the Republicans and arm our readers with a brief piece of reality so that they can engage MAGA Republicans in conversation with the TRUTH on their side.

Current Republican talking points are claiming the current government shutdown, and all the suffering that it’s causing, are the fault of the Democrats. Calling it “the Schumer Shutdown” or “the Democrat Shutdown”, Trump and his surrogates are claiming that the Democrats want 1.5 trillion dollars to continue to give undocumented immigrants free healthcare and are holding the government hostage until they get what they want.

The reality is that the demands of the Democrats in Congress have nothing to do with undocumented immigrants. Aside from emergency treatment required under a law promoted and signed by President Reagan, undocumented immigrants do NOT get free healthcare. Never have and never will. Rather, this is all about the healthcare of millions of hard-working Americans who are covered by some facet of “Obamacare”. When Congress began the process of working on a new budget in January, Democrats raised concerns about the tax credits in the Affordable Care Act which are due to expire at the end of 2025. Those tax credits reduce the cost of health insurance for tens of millions of Americans. Republicans promised that those concerns would be addressed in the permanent funding bill that Trump and his allies were already calling the One Big Beautiful Bill. When Dems learned that Trump had NOT included those credits in his desired legislation they cried “foul”, but Republicans said that they could be negotiated for the final version of the bill.

But there were no negotiations about any part of the One Big Beautiful Bill. It was rammed through Congress over the objections of the Dems. Now, Republicans want a “continuing resolution” to keep the government running and have promised Democrats that the tax credits can be negotiated, but not until AFTER Democrats agree to reopen the government. Democrats are now basically saying “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." There’s a limit to how many times Democratic legislators will allow the Republicans to promise negotiations and then not keep their promises.
