Good Morning Blue Team!
Election Day is now only one week and one day away. A mere five days after the election day we will be holding our monthly meeting and election recap. Even though they may still be counting, recounting and re-recounting votes in some states, our Second Sunday meeting will either be a celebration of Kamala Harris’ victory or . . . well, let’s not even think about the alternative. Either way, we’ll be at the East Torrance Soil and Water Conservation building (715 S. Fifth St., Estancia) to celebrate (or commiserate) and plan for next year and beyond.
Politics is a never-ending circle. When the 2024 election is done, we start the work of preparing for 2026 and 2028, and in Torrance County that means a LOT of work as we try to make our county just a bit less “red” with every cycle. This will be our last meeting of the calendar year (everyone is always too busy in December with the holidays) but in the late winter or early spring of odd-numbered years we elect the precinct chairs, ward chairs and county officers, and then we move on to doing the same thing at the state party level.
Now is the time to begin figuring out who can help where within the party. Everyone’s efforts are essential and appreciated as we try to reach out to the 1,954 registered Democrats in Torrance County and encourage their participation in party events, and also to the 2,061 other non-Republicans to encourage them to join us.
The process never ends. When one election is over, we simply hit the “Reset” button.
STAND UP, PUSH BACK, VOTE!
