Hello Fellow Democrats and ANTIFA followers,
Of course, there’s a lot going on at the national level. Trump’s war, his Deflecting Pool and the “vandalism” (by his motorcade) and him painting a bunch of bronze statues gold, but this week we have some local stuff to talk about, too.
First of all, the State Central Committee has spoken, and our current Commissioner of Public Lands, Stephanie Garcia Richard, is now officially Deb Haaland’s running mate and will appear as our candidate for Lieutenant Governor on the ballot in November. Here’s the breakdown of the vote tally:
- Stephanie Garcia Richard: 255 votes (53%)
- Harold Pope Jr.: 218 votes (46%)
- Toni Pinedo: 3 votes
- Geoffrey Luehring: 1 vote
If you’ve never met Stephanie, you may have the opportunity to do so soon. We are working with Deb’s campaign to have our future governor visit with us on August 14th. Nothing is official yet, and we don’t know if Stephanie will be at the event as well. We’re still working on the details. We’ll keep you posted as things progress.
For those of you who attended our Denim & Diamonds event, you may recall the fun that we had when I played auctioneer and we auctioned off a Democrats Care t-shirt that had been signed by many candidates and elected officials. Well, the folks from the East Mountain Democrats that were present liked the idea so much that they’re doing a t-shirt auction as well, and they’ve asked me to come and be the auctioneer again. It’ll be at Ribs Hickory Pit BBQ in Cedar Crest on September 15th. Folks will start arriving around 5 PM with the formal activities starting at 6 PM. They’d love to have as many DPTC supporters there as possible, so please mark your calendars and check out the graphic for the event below.
Myra has returned from her trip to New Hampshire and will be back on here next week. In the meantime,
Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
By Bill Peifer
On Saturday, Trump posted on Untruth Social:
If Senators Cornyn and Tillis, both upset because I wouldn’t Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!), aren’t going to approve Todd Blanche, one of the most respected professionals, according to everybody, in the Country, to be the United States Attorney General, then I will keep Todd as Acting A.G., and push hard to get the Anti-Weaponization Bill, which takes care of those who have been so badly treated by the Crooked Joe Biden (and Obuma!) Administration (I get nothing, although I was treated horribly!), PASSED. Todd Blanche was a voice of reason! It will immediately be back on the table, and I will get it done. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT
As is usually the case, there are multiple lies here. Of course, the so-called “Anti-Weaponization Bill” that Trump is pushing for really just creates a fund to pay the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, skinheads and other far-right radicals who stormed the Capitol on January 6th of 2021. It’s a blatant reward for their loyalty to him during that attempted coup. It’s also not true that he gets “nothing” since, if nothing else, he gets the continued undying support of his cult members. And his claim that he was “treated horribly” is also a lie, since all of the investigations into his corruption got dropped when he ran for president again in 2024 to avoid prosecution. That’s not horrible treatment. That’s “kid gloves” treatment.
But the real lie here is about Todd Blanche, calling him “one of the most respected professionals, according to everybody, in the country”. According to everybody? With that sort of praise, you’d think that Blanche was a career prosecutor with a long list of successful prosecutions against major underworld figures. One might believe, from what Trump wrote, that Blanche had put dozens, if not hundreds, of organized crime figures behind bars!
To be fair, Blanche had been a prosecutor at one time. After law school he worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the violent-crimes division for the Southern District of New York for a few years. But Blanche didn’t find his niche as a prosecutor. Instead, he became a defense attorney for high profile criminals like Paul Manafort, Igor Fruman and Boris Epshteyn. You might not recognize Fruman’s and Epshteyn’s names, but they were key players int the Trump-Ukraine scandal of 2019 that ultimately led to Trump’s first impeachment. That relationship with Trump led to Blanche becoming Trump’s full-time personal criminal defense attorney, defending him in just about every criminal proceeding brought against the “Capo di tutti capi” of the Trump Crime Family. When Trump won the 2024 election, Blanche was rewarded with the position of Deputy Attorney General, and is now the nominee to become Attorney General of the United States.
So, Blanche is obviously respected by Trump, but that’s about the extent of the respect that this sleazy “consigliere” is due. He’s made a living out of getting some of the worst criminals of the 21st century off the hook and out of jail, but that shouldn’t qualify him to be the nation’s Chief Law Enforcement Officer. Senators Cornyn and Tillis are spot-on in their refusal to support him.

POLL WORKER NEEDED!
During the Primary Election, Myra Oden worked as a poll worker at the Moriarty Civic Center. For the General Election, we need to free Myra up to be our party's representative for Election Integrity, traveling to ALL the polling locations, so we need to find another person to work the polls on election day. This is a paid position (paid by the state) and the County Clerk's office will provide all the training that you need.
Contact Millie or Myra if you're available and interested!
