Hello Fellow Democrats,
On Saturday afternoon, the DPTC held its monthly meeting in conjunction with a wonderful barbecue at Tim and Myra Oden’s house. Turnout was great, as was the food and the various discussions about our path forward as a party and the revitalization of the DPNM Rural Caucus. A good time was had by all (pictures below) and everyone went on their way in high spirits and with full bellies.
But, on Sunday morning, we woke to headlines of the bombing attack by our Air Force on Iran’s supposed nuclear enrichment sites, which Trump proudly proclaimed had “completely obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program. There’s now widespread speculation about why Trump actually bombed the mountains in Iran. Of course, there is some small chance that, despite the NSA, CIA and all other segments of our intelligence community claiming otherwise, Iran was weeks . . . possibly only days . . . away from being able to build a nuclear weapon. There is a small chance that the bombing of Iran will make the U.S. and the rest of the world safer. But the opposite is far more likely, with the government and the public now on high alert for potential terrorist attacks.
So, what other reason could there be for blowing up the mountainous research sites in Iran? Knowing Trump, the real reason could be very simple. The press is no longer focused on the rounding up and detention of immigrants, both undocumented and legal, and their citizen supporters. It’s paying almost no attention to Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” that experts agree will likely lead to a “Big Blundering Bankruptcy” for the U.S. economy. Not a word is being said about his blatant violation of the Constitution’s “emoluments clause” and multiple violations of the Bill of Rights and other Constitutional Amendments. The bombings in Iran appear, to this observer, to be clearly designed to distract. Trump needs to keep his MAGA supporters fully behind him and divert the public’s attention away from his illegal acts.
For us, it’s vital that we “keep our eye on the ball” and continue to call the administration out every chance we get. We need to:
STAND UP! PUSH BACK! and PROTEST!

Help Wanted!
We have started planning for the annual Old Timers' Day events in Estancia on July 26th. We are planning on participating in the parade this year, and will have booth space in the park and will be, once again, giving away backpacks to school children. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the booth in three shifts: Set-up (9 AM to Noon); Lunch (11 AM to 2 PM); and Takedown (2 PM to 5 PM). Contact Millie if you can help!

The "BLUE DOT CREW"
The Blue Dot Crew are Democrats who wear a little blue button! "A blue dot in a sea of red dots!" We, in Torrance County, can feel outnumbered and overwhelmed. We are a blue dot in a red county and will be heard. We will be at the three events this summer handing out blue dot buttons to any Democrat who wants one. They can then add their blue dot to the large Torrance County map. It will be our way to identify other Democrats when you feel alone.

Torrance County Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (“ICIP”)
Torrance County is currently reviewing its ICIP for 2027-2031. The ICIP is a planning document, whereby the County prioritizes public infrastructure projects to be executed within the next 5-years. Having projects included and prioritized in the ICIP also makes the projects eligible for State grant funding. The County is currently requesting public input on its ICIP.
